Whenever I walk into the room where this heater is running, I notice a difference of several degrees! It does not feel as hot up close as a traditional space heater, so if you're wanting something to directly warm your feet, for instance, this would not be for you, but if you want it to warm up a room as a whole, it's fantastic. This is heater is amazing. My family had to buy this when the main heater in our living broke in the middle of winter and we had no other way of heating the livingroom. For it being such a small size, it had a tremendous effect! Especially since our living room opens into our kitchen and there is no door to close off the two rooms from each other, this little heater was basically heating two rooms at once. The only thing I would change is the setting options. There are only two options for heat (low and high) and a single option for the fan. That's only three options (four if you count the Off option). I would have really liked a medium option for heating and a low and high option for the fan. Regardless, I would definitely buy this again or recommended to others. ... show more

    • Broke after 8 weeks
I had problems with this heater immediately after unboxing it. Very unreliable & poor design. Safety switch is a horribly annoying design flaw which randomly shuts the device off on a hair trigger. Too many buttons and settings, and the oscillation setting is a worthless feature. Completely shut-down 8 weeks after purchase (just as the return window expired) and would not power up again. $72 down the drain. ... show more

    • Doesn't heat the room very well
I had this same brand of heater that looked very similar and it worked extremely well for about two years so of course I was excited when I saw this one. It works ok, not as good as the last one I had. Doesn't get as hot, or heat the room as much. You have to be directly in front of it to feel the heat. It is a little quieter and it oscillates which is something the other one did not do, however I will not buy again because one big concern I have is while it does have tipover protection, I do not believe the unit will shut off if it over heats. There have been a few times now where the unit has been placed to close to things or surrounded ( closed in) by things (unaware) and it kept running. That concerns me greatly. ... show more

I may be a little hard on this particular model, but while I wish I had not bought it, the thing that makes me the most sad is that I had it's predecessor, the HHF540, as opposed to this one, the HHF550B. The 540 was the best area heater I've ever used, hands down. With the 550B, it's like they took the 540 and added an oscillating panel on the bottom, and took away one of the fan settings. Unfortunately If you expect this thing to blow on you (not heat a room in general) the safety switch on the bottom, reliable on the 540, barely reaches. That means you must have a hard surface and you can't just push in the level, it needs pushed hard. Soft surfaces will not due, and if you jostle it a little even on a hard surface it will just stop until you crush thee safety lever again. Between the thin (half inch?) platform on the bottom though and the couple of inches they raised it up to handle the oscillating motor though, it sits so high that if you're laying down it will blow right over you - it sits up much higher than the 540. Now it will heat a room, they both can put out an enormous amount of heat. And arguably this one is better at heating a room because of the oscillation. But if you're going to get a Honeywell heater to heat a room, you're better off with the 360 degree unit than these directional ones. They should have lengthened the safety tab when they made the base taller. ... show more
