Off is not off. This is a simple mechanical thermostat which means that a coiled spring shrinks and grows depending on the ambient temperature. It should work fine on many applications, however if you are using it something like a cabin, or in my case, an auto show you should know that even with the thermostat manual temperature control slid completely over to the left, the thermostat will activate your furnace at temperatures around 40 degrees. This might be a good feature if you use it to keep water pipes from freezing or that kind of goal, but if you truly want the furnace off, and you expect temperatures in the low 40’s F You will need to disconnect the wires or it will activate the furnace. This could result in some surprising energy bills. ... show more
