I love the simple design, superb light quality, the height (taller than my raised laptop screen), the adjustability, and the solid, tight build. The fit & finish of mine is flawless. The 4000K white light, with no blue and no glare, is softened by the orange diffuser ring. 500 lumens is good for general work, and for close up detail work you can lower the head. The touch control on the head is simple – tap on/off & long hold to dim/brighten – takes about 5 seconds to go to/from 10-100%. To reverse direction, release the hold, then hold again. It has a brightness memory, not held if it loses power. There’s a white label on the rear edge of the base that contains the model & S/N (which are not marked as such), so if you remove it you may first want to take a photo of it. Update: I’ve been using this daily for a few months and decided to raise my rating from 4 to 5 stars. I originally thought the highest setting should be brighter (why initially 4 stars), but actually it’s been bright enough for everything I do. The color temperature is just right, and I really appreciate the high 95 CRI (color rendering accuracy). ... show more

Good looking but unobtrusively minimalist; heavy and well made; gives off a bright, warm light (not at all cool, as other reviewers have said), and easy to turn on and off. Just what I wanted. Maybe a little too expensive, but I'm happy.

This is a case of getting what you paid for. Not cheap, but the lamp is heavy, solid, and well-made. It won't win any prizes for beauty but it does what it needs to do. Touch on/off button is good. Long touch to dim or brighten is rather slow and of limited range, but not a big deal.

I saw this and balked at the price for a few months. It went on sale for 20% off, and I decided to jump on it. It is a very minimalist design, but sheds excellent clean, even light with minimal bleed. The stand is sturdy and heavy enough to allow me to adjust the lamps position without worrying about it falling over. I have had some issues with setting the brightness level, but I generally use it on max brightness anyway, so it doesn't really bother me. It still feels like a bit of a luxury splurge, even with the sale. I could have bought 4 other lights for what I paid for this one. ... show more

    • Great Lamp- Damaged lower hinge.
It seems the lower hinge is loose (the one just above the base and not to be confused with the chrome hinge on the base). I've ordered two and with both orders the shipping box is crushed around the heavy base of the lamp. Even the Styrofoam inside the box is broken and busted from harsh handling (probably during shipping). Both lamps have a loose bottom hinge that seems to take the damage due to mishandling of the shipment. I love the lamps themselves and will keep them both (I needed two anyway). I would have returned one if there were any significant difference, but I don't want to continue waiting for a better one. No functionality is lost to the lamps, but they wobble at the lower hinge...one of them leans over. Great lamp - bad shipping provider. ... show more

    • Does not ramp brightness as promised.
Disappointing lamp. The brightness does not vary—it just turns on at full without the ability to control as specified in the manual. What happened to quality assurance? Should have sprung for a Tolomeo classic lamp.
