Note: Your devices also need to support Z-Wave LR and be added as LR devices.
- EASY UPGRADE FROM OLDER CONTROLLERS: If you're upgrading from a previous Z-Wave controller (500, 700, or 800 series), SmartStick G8 makes it easy to migrate your Z-Wave network. Just use Z-Wave JS UI v9.9.0 (or later) for the migration. This feature works with HomeSeer and Home Assistant. Important: Don't use other methods (like PC Controller) for migrationthey could make the stick unusable.
- GLOBAL COMPATIBILITY: Works with all Z-Wave frequencies used in most coutries around the world (frequency is set using HomeSeer or Home Assistant software or hub).

Just worked
Works well for me. My Z-Wave stuff is almost entirely Zooz now, but I started out with this stick and it just worked with Home Assistant from the beginning. Only thing I've not been able to get to work is a ZLR connection to a device outside of the reach of my normal Z-Wave network. Not sure it has anything to do with this dongle though, more likely because it's located in a poor location in my house.

works great for homeseer on windows machine
Great improvement over the previous iterations i've used. Network stays up and nodes stay connected as they should. I'm running this on homeseer installed on a windows 11 server. it's been up and running for weeks now with absolutely zero issues to note.

NOT WORKING
I bought the HomeSeer SmartStick G8 and it arrived completely non‑functional. Windows identifies it as a CH9102 generic USB serial adapter (VID_1A86) instead of the Silicon Labs CP2102N that the SmartStick G8 is supposed to use. Home Assistant also fails to connect because the stick doesn’t expose a Z‑Wave interface at all. This means the internal USB interface chip is either dead or misprogrammed. The Z‑Wave radio may be present, but the stick cannot communicate with anything. For a premium Z‑Wave 800 series controller, this is unacceptable. Buyers should be aware that defective units are making it into the supply chain.

Immediately just worked with Home Assistant and some Zwave devices.
I am testing Home Assistant and exploring what it can do. I easily added Zwave devices using this as the hub.

Works way better with home assistant vs. Aeotec
Had a Aeotec Z-stick previously, and could not for the life of me get a healthy network: first hop needed to be line-of-sight, smartstart inclusion never worked, some devices would randomly drop out. After months of thinking it was something I did, I tried swapping controllers to this one, and all those problems went away!! Has no issues with NVM backup (but have not tried restore). Might require a USB extension to keep interference from the computer low (common for these sticks). Very happy overall
