This is the most versatile optic currently available. The thermal system is high enough resolution for east coast range night hunting and there is also the high quality red dot. The overlayed thermal image is useful for transitional lighting environments in a way no other optic duplicates. One of my favorite features is the batteries are both replaceable and rechargeable. There is a door on the side for the batteries and a magnetic charging port on the outside. They run the device for 8+ hours, but when in the field for extended periods you can keep spares instead of a charging solution (and waiting an hour to charge). I wish this concept was on every gun device. Using is fairly complex at first but I got the hang of it in 30 min. The thermal device being off axis of the red dot means it has additional parallax and needs to be calibrated separately from the zero. The window for the red dot can be shut so you get the thermal image only, so for that use case there is a second retical built into the thermal that needs to be zeroed also. The thermal has digital 5x zoom, so if you have a flip up 3x red dot magnifier, you get low resolution 15x. It is very grainy at that zoom level, but it is more useful than what I was expecting, and I could see myself using it occasionally, especially at dusk and dawn. At 3x optical zoom the thermal has plenty of resolution to be useful. I think we will see this optic copied many times in the future.

This is a great thermal set-up. I use it on my 300 blackout AR. I Like that during the day I use the red dot and at night the thermal is overlayed the red dot. I also have the 3x magnifier. Works great for the hog hunts.

Site is fantastic, night vision works well. Buttons and usage are not easy especially when you don’t use it every day.

Thermal works great within its range. Pretty clear image. Having a red dot is great but wish the window was a touch bigger. If putting it on anything other than AR15 you have to mount it too far forward if you want to use a red dot magnifier, so when using the thermal you don’t get a full view of window. That’s a personal complaint not a hit on the function or quality of the optic itself. If you’re on an AR it should be fine using a magnifier or if you’re fine with just the red dot and not magnification. I use it hunting so that magnification of the red dot during mid day hours is handy.

Overall the concept of the Holosun TH is an amazing idea in fact one of its kind. The biggest issue I have ran into was the quality compared to the price. Unfortunately I returned the item and purchased an AMG Rattler v2 35-284, for the extra $400 it was well worth it. Again I do wish I could find something of similar type. I have contemplated making a similar concept with a flip to the side thermal but without my research I have found it would not be worth the money. Maybe if the V2 has better quality it may be worth looking into again.

First, this is DEFINITELY not a dedicated thermal device. You’ll need to spend almost double the money for a good one of those. This is a red dot that offers an additional capability. If you go into this with that in mind, you’ll LOVE it. Second, it’s incredible that they’ve been able to squeeze this much performance out of such a small device. I think this kind of hybrid model is definitely going to be adopted by other companies. Third, it’s just great. You won’t be disappointed if you look at this as an expensive red dot with extra capability. I can’t stress that enough! If you’re used to using high-end thermal devices, this will disappoint you. It’s a red dot, with extra features.

Mounted this on a .300 Blackout for hog hunting. Tough and durable, the image is very clear and crisp. I debated over the Night Vision or Thermal version and hands down, the Thermal is the best product.

This thing is a game changer... this is far better than the bulky, expensive thermals I used on active duty... it has a ton of features, compact, long usage time between recharges, overlapping images of both red dot & thermal image... you can even select between just the red dot or the thermal or both together. It has several reticles to choose from as well as various thermal image types, plus it works with a magnifier. I's a lot in a tiny package... it has a lot to offer with very little size and weight!
