I used this gambrel to hang a deer today and the product worked exceptionally. This is a well designed gambrel and the materials are top notch. The hooks that are used to secure the legs right above the rear knees are perfectly shaped and sized to keep a deer or other game from sliding off while skinning and cutting. The supports on the inside of the gambrel add strength and rigidity, and the rope/ hook loop at the top center is closed off to prevent it from coming detached if you must hoist the animal it up. The textured powder coat finish adds a nice protective layer and attractive look. While the width is perfect for deer and smaller animals, it wouldn't be suitable for hanging larger animals like moose and elk; keep in mind that this model is designed for deer and that the company does make a larger version that is not only wider, but also holds more than twice the weight. For the price (I paid under $10) it is a steal. It is perhaps the nicest gambrel I have seen at any price point for that matter. Don't hesitate on the purchase... pull the trigger (pun intended). ... show more

Works great. My only complaint is that the square hooks were a little hard to get through a pig. Probably works much better going through the Achilles of a deer.

This product has great value for the price. Super easy to use, very sturdy and works great. It was purchased to hang deer, pigs, etc. Used it to clean a hog and worked perfect!!
