Extremely well built and designed. Uses threaded parts with hex screws. All tools necessary. No instructions but not necessary - straight forward. Note: put washers on winch mounting. Winch works fine but putting a small electric winch would make it superb! (Albight more costly)

The materials appear to be of decent quality, and I believe they will perform well. Assembly was relatively simple, and the machining was well done, so I didn’t encounter any issues while tightening or starting the bolts. The cable is made of steel and does not have a vinyl coating, which makes it susceptible to rusting if left outside for an extended period. One issue I noticed with mine was some paint that chipped off right out of the box. While it's not a deal breaker, I touched it up with some spray paint to prevent the bare metal from rusting.

The media could not be loaded. This hoist is awesome. If you have ever had to drag a deer out then hoist it over a tree branch to lift it for processing, then you know how much of a pain that is. This hoist was easy to assemble (About 5-10 minutes). Once assembled, you can leave it that way then just bring it out and strap to a tree when needed. The base of the hoist has little grooves so as you ratchet it to the tree, it bites in a little to keep the hoist from sliding back and forth. The crank is smooth and easy to switch between lifting and lowering. I definitely think it's worth a hundred bucks if you process everything yourself.

500lbs is a joke. This thing wont hold 200. Trash. To be clear it might “hold” 500 pounds. But it will not crank 500 pounds up. The cheap crank and wire binds up. It is a straight crank with no pully system so if you were to have 500 pounds on that thing, that’s because you can personally lift 500 pounds. I can’t even get it to crank up a 200 pound hog. I often hunt alone, so this thing was supposed to be a helpful way to do that. Instead, I’ve just wasted money.
