Where to start? I’ve leveled quite a few scopes over the years using all the ’this is the new best’ methods. Comparatively I think this is a pretty good one generally. You don’t need to worry about a plumb bob and wind and some space to hang it etc. You don’t have to worry about a lot of little things that other methods bring. But you do have to worry about the methodology this one brings! I’ll say the box it comes in is just fine. I saw some complain about it, but unless you just have to have a tactical plastic hard case, it’s just fine. The cardboard is plenty sturdy and the fitted foam works great. The only downside is if you have issues taking care of cardboard boxes or intended to carry it around roughly I guess. Your mileage may vary, but I’m sure you could find a hard case and simply transfer the foam insert and parts over to it. And I found the instructions to be fair and usable. They of course cannot give you steps for certain circumstances you should just be able to figure out on your own if you’ve been around. The built quality generally is quite good. The only part I think felt not premium was the mirror. It doesn’t feel CHEAP, but it is sort of lightweight and feels like it could do with some weight in the base. It did work just fine though. The laser module feels rather robust and my only complaint there is the battery type. It is definitely a less common cell and may prove problematic or costly at times. The laser does not activate until you insert the module into the cup adapter as the backplate serves as the connecting ‘wire’. In my opinion this is just fine. It also means you can flip the module around and insert it nose-first. This way it cannot activate so in theory you could leave the battery installed and there would be no way for it to come on unless you short out the contact points somehow. But that should not happen when it’s just sitting in the foam. The laser line could be of better resolution, but I think it works out fine as you can see from my picture. One of the things the instructions don’t tell you is how to deal with setups that don’t have rail forward of the scope. Well in that case you just leave the scope bottom rings mounted, remove the scope, mount the vertical alignment plate and go on. You don’t need the plate and the scope in place at the same time. Put on the plate, get the laser lined up on the plate, remove the plate, then mount your scope. Just don’t bump or adjust the laser in between! I do see a lot of room for user error using this kit. You must remove your muzzle device, you must be careful not to bump the module once aligned, etc. The things I remove any rating for is the combined mirror feel, the fit of the adapters, and the price could be a bit better for what you get. ... show more

You can get it very accurate with a level, which I did, but this can give you that micro adjustment that you can't see with a level. That will help with longer range shooting. Some reviews say that it doesn't have an off switch and you need to remove the battery, but that's not accurate; if you keep the battery in and separate the two laser pieces then it turns off. The laser part with the battery and the barrel insert part need to be together to enable the laser. I stored that two pieces apart in the box with the battery still in. The mount with the lines expects an exact picatinny rail which has a 20mm wide slot and not all scope mounts use 20mm however you can set it on the scope rail and it'll stay flat as long as you don't bump the gun, so you just need a flat surface on your scope mounts to level. Once you are done with this then you can bore sight it with your bore sight laser. ... show more

    • Can't Use With a Muzzle Device
I should have read the description more closely, as the only Picatinny Rail Mount Scopes I have are on platforms with muzzle devices. To use this I would have to remove the muzzle device which isn't hard, just inconvenient. There are other ways to level a scope without removing a muzzle device. That said, I am planning to switch to a Picatinny Rail on my bolt action which does not have a muzzle device, and will test its accuracy then. Until then, this kit seems well made, and should work as well to get you close for when it comes to range time to zero it: better than using a corner of the room to align your vertical crosshair and get your windage adjusted. ... show more

When mounting your scope, you need to keep the reticle leveled for accuracy. The only tools I had for that until now used a bubble level, which isn't very accurate. The Cvlife laser scope leveling kit is a much more precise tool for leveling your scope. The scope level tool mounts a laser in the barrel, and uses a vertical marking base mounted to the same rail as the scope, with the laser reflected by the included mirror. 16 adapters are included to cover virtually every caliber barrel from .17 to 12 ga. You can use this to level the scope for every firearm you have. The adapters are marked to make your selection easy. The laser generates a vertical line, and once you've adjusted it to be like the vertical marking base, you have the precise base line for adjusting the scope so the reticle is perfectly level. When you've matched it to the mark, tighten the scope down. You don't even have to have the rifle level while doing this since the laser lines up with the vertical mounting marking base, and the scope reticle will aliggn with the same base. This only works with scopes mounted to a picatinny rail, which is how the majority of how my rifles are equipped. The one drawback is that the laser is only powered on by inserting the battery, which must then be removed to turn it off. ... show more

Think just faster just the old method string and a weight. It does work I give that, but after you follow the directions and do all the setup. It’s not worth it in my opinion. Maybe if could switch the laser from a line to a dot you could bore sight it at the same time.

    • Great for leveling scopes, this isn't for bore sighting.
If you follow the instructions, it allows you to level your scope to the leveling of the rail. It is a interesting design which may be considered a bit complex. It would be probably easier and faster to do a bubble level but this feels more accurate. There might be some difficulty depending on the type of flash hider/muzzle brake. ... show more
