First off, I have to say this is a GREAT hitch mount bike rack for our two e-bikes. The packaging was pretty darn good. There were no scuffs, no mars, no paint chips on any components (that are either powder coated or painted). And, speaking of that, the powder coating is a superb job. Very nicely done. Second, my advice for anyone that's ordered this unit is, after you've opened the box and inspected all the components and accounted for all the needed parts, take the main beam and insert it in your receiver hitch that you'll be carrying your bikes on or any other 2" receiver. Then insert the locking pin and tighten it down. That will enable a lot of stability when doing all the different parts of assembly. From that point on, it's pretty darn self-explanatory on how things go together, regardless of some less than desirable instructions. Third, assemble all the components with the appropriate nuts and bolts but don't tighten anything all the way, until ALL the components are in place. That way, you don't fight yourself with some tight and some loose. Now, at this point, I want to add that, I'm a stickler for "wobble" in any bike rack I've either built or bought. I HATE wobble. This rack, assembled and tightened as tight as is required, is pretty good, but could stand some slight improvement(s). The rack, as any have seen and is advertised, pivots up for when there's no bikes on it and you'd prefer to carry it that way. But, the pivot joint, even when snugged up as tight as is required, is still too loose for my standards. Sooooo, I simply created two thin Kydex washers/shims that are 2" in diameter and have 5/8" holes. I then slid one of them between the main beam and the pivot where the mouting bolt goes through, and the other shim goes in between where the removable pin goes through. By adding those two shims, the stability of that rack PHENOMENALLY improved and the "wobble" was all but GONE!. Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaay better, (in my opinion). When it was all said and done, and tight, I installed one of our e-bikes. The rack is listed as able to carry 200 lbs. The wifes bike is a whopping 48 lbs. I cinched down both wheels and then secured the top with the swing arm and seat stem clamp. Wow! That's a darn stable bike for sure. One more thing, the supplied ramp is really, REALLY floppy inside it's carry part of the end of the main tube. It flip flops all over the place. My advice on that might be to wrap that section of the ramp that is inserted into that tube to take up space and make it a lot more stable while in transport. Just a suggestion. Other than that, I'm really really happy with this double e-bike rack. I've seen a racks for two ebikes that aren't nearly as nice or as stable for a lot more money. Pretty tough to beat this deal and get this kind of quality. I'd purchase another one in a heartbeat if needed.

I recently purchased two new Aventon Level 3 step-through ebikes and knew I would need a new bike rack to transport them. After a great deal of research and comparison shopping, I landed on this Young Electric Hitch Mount Two-Bike Rack with Ramp (10104148). Numerous racks I looked at would handle the weight of our bikes and offered a ramp for easy loading/unloading, but the feature that made this rack jump to the top of the list was the pair of adjustable arm bars that can be easily moved into position to fasten to the bikes’ seat tubes. This accommodated my step-through bikes that don't have cross bars without forcing me into purchasing adapters as other top ebike racks require. A “top brand” rack the local shop pitched was already twice the cost of the Young Electric rack and would have required purchasing crossbar adapters in addition to that, so I was immediately excited about the value of the Young Electric rack. Finding no contender that offered comparable features and reliable user feedback at the price I hit the “buy now” button. The day we assembled the rack was the day we were alerted by our local shop that our new bikes were ready for pickup. I will say, the assembly instructions (and an accompanying overly-brief online video) are not the best. There were several places I had to watch the video to give me a better idea of what the instructions were attempting to convey, and even then there were some blind spots that just had to be reasoned out. Eventually, we got it put together and jetted off to get our bikes, but I’d say assembly time could have been reduced by ⅓ or more with better instructive material. Your mileage may vary. The people who helped us load up at the local shop were really impressed with the rack, and i wouldn’t be surprised to hear they’re recommending it to others who purchase step-through bikes. Loading the bikes is a breeze and all the features that secure them in place are excellently engineered. We inadvertently took a road that was being resurfaced when we left the shop, and even with big bouncing bumps in my Jeep Gladiator, the bikes were perfectly secured. We only got one ride in that first weekend, and unloading and loading the bikes by ourselves was a breeze. Knowing we’d want to take them out again soon, I folded the rack into its upright/stored position and left it on my vehicle during my work week. It really does fold and store nicely in a way that doesn’t make driving difficult, and it’s also easy to fold down to access the tailgate if I need to put something in the truck bed. What I didn’t know, until a mere three days after assembling and installing the rack, is that the rack is STURDY. I was rear-ended in congested traffic by an SUV. The SUV’s front bumper cover was damaged, and I could tell the bike rack had been damaged, but my truck was absolutely unscathed. The bike rack took a hit that definitely would have damaged my vehicle and left me with nary a blemish, much less any damage that could have taken my vehicle out of commission. The rack needed a little wrestling to fold and unfold after the accident, but it was theoretically still usable if I were comfortable putting my expensive bikes on a partially buckled bike rack that rode at a bit of an angle. Not wanting to take that chance, I reached out to Young Electric via their website and they were super friendly and willing to be of assistance as I went through the process with the driver of the other vehicle to replace my damaged property. During that process, I realized that only one part of the bike rack actually needed to be replaced (the part that actually slides into my truck’s hitch receiver — you can see the damage in the detail photo attached to this ), and Young Electric worked with me to order that one piece that needed replacing. Every other bit of the rack was in 100% functional condition. With the possible exception of instructional material that could be improved, I couldn’t be happier with this bike rack. It is perfect for my needs, and that’s before I learned it could go toe-to-toe with an SUV and keep my car from taking any damage. I highly recommend this rack for those who want an all-around exceptional solution for easily and safely transporting their expensive ebikes. Pros Excellently engineered design that can accommodate bikes regardless of frame or wheel styles Easy loading/unloading with the ramp and adjustable arm bars STURDY product that can take abuse (while protecting the attached vehicle) Excellent Customer Service from the folks at Young Electric Cons Instructions leave a little to be desired but ultimately get the job done if you are patient and thorough. I purchased this bike rack for my velotric breeze and tempo ebikes. Assembly was pretty easy, but a major bolt that holds on the vertical arm was stripped and it took a lot of effort to get it out. I was pretty sure it would hold so i installed it anyway, but I contacted the manufacturer and they said they would send out a new bolt. I just received the part today, and instead of just giving me the bolt, they gave me the arm as well, which is probably the safer thing to do since both were stripped. I was impress by their service! The rack has worked well, solidly built and doesn't jiggle when doing down the road, it's heavy, but not too heavy; at 63 years old I can still install it by myself. I really like how it works with our bikes because they are both stepover models. I've enclosed a picture so you can see the tempo installed on it. The front wheel doesn't get snuggly wrapped because it's so small, the carrier would work better with a fat tired bike. But, it still is rock solid when I'm driving. My one complaint is the bike ramp. It works fine, but it jiggles when going down the road. Because the Tempo and Breeze are so light, I just lift them onto the rack, so I leave the ramp at home.

So first, understand that Young doesn't make this. There are several companies on Amazon that sell this rack or something so similar that it's obvious there's one company in China that makes several brands - and they are all the same. I wanted this style of bike rack for one reason. Many competitors use a curved bar that drops down on the center of the bike between the seat and the handle bars. Our bikes are step through so there's no middle bar to attach to. You can buy a center bar attachment for $50 each but I didn't want that. This type of hitch attaches very easily to either the seat stem or the frame post that the seat stem goes into. I believe that makes it very sturdy. I bought this one because it had a 2 day Amazon delivery. Everyone on FB told me to get the Young 'Mate R' rack which is also listed on Amazon, but I honestly can't tell the difference between that one and this one.. Here's my pros and cons. Pros: 1. Very heavy duty in my opinion. Solid hardware, and as others have said; steel where needed and aluminum platforms where it doesn't matter to reduce weight. I like that. 2. The bikes fit perfectly; we have 2 Aventure 2 ebikes which weigh about 80 pounds with battery in. This rack is spec'd for 200 lbs which is a nice amount of overkill. Many bike racks are rated for 70 or 80 lbs and if we take the batteries out, our bikes will barely meet that limit. I don't like that. I like to have a little buffer on weight requirements. 3. All the parts were included, the box can in good condition except for the obligatory 3" jagged hole that I think every delivery person is required to kick through. Nothing was damaged, no scratches, and all parts included, but here's a shout out to Amazon for successfully damaging the box. 4. I didn't think I needed the ramp, but its only $40 more if you buy it included, if you buy it separate it's $79. Nice marketing. Anyway, if you can dead lift 70 pounds you don't need the ramp, but remember that the bike closest to the car needs to be lifted over the outside ramp to position it to the inside platform. Not so easy. The outer bike is easy to put on without the ramp by using the back brake / lift method. 5. This rack is really solid and heavy. When on the car hitch it gives me the feeling that the bikes will be very secure. Cons 1. First con has to be the instructions. Obviously written in China and translated to English. The list of tools needed is completely wrong. The instructions are mostly black and white sketches that are very small - 4 steps per page - and the important parts of the instructions are so pixelated you can't really see in any detail what to do. The parts list page of hardware is also terrible. Most instructions now show the hardware at the same size that it really is, so you can take a bolt and lay it on the page to see what it is. The saddest part is the translation from Velcro to what they call "Adhesive Tape". I'm embarrassed to say I didn't figure that out for a while and I searched every piece of cardboard the the adhesive tape. Also, the written instructions are very limited to explain the steps. 2. I called the company and the representative hardly knew that they sell hitch racks. He was no help at all with selecting which one. That's when I figured out they don't manufacture anything, he's probably sitting in his kitchen with a laptop taking orders. :) 3. This is probably my fault - I didn't realize that the hitch does not tilt away from the car so you can open the hatch. I know some do, but this one does not. They don't advertise that it does, but I just assumed it did. Not a big deal, if you need to open the hatch, you just need to take off the bikes. 4. I'm a little skeptical of the strength of the plastic straps that hold the tires onto the platform. I'll add a strip of Velcro to wrap around each tire/rim and around under the platform for added security. 5. I'm also concerned about the width of the platform as related to the tires. Our fat tires are 4" and they barely fit on top of the platforms. Also, the platforms have a very slight bevel toward the middle but this 'V' channel is so slight I don't think it will keep the tire on the platform of the strap loosens up. I'm thinking of adding a strip of the stair tread material to make a rougher surface for the tires to sit on. The platform aluminum is shiny and I suspect will be very slippery. Things like this I don't understand. How much more of a deal would it have been for them to make a nice channel for the tires to sit in? The main reason I bought this particular rack was that it was a 2 day delivery. All the other models and brands were at least 7 to 10 days. I don't hesitate to return something to Amazon if it's not what I expect, and I checked that this rack can be returned to my local UPS for credit if needed. A word of caution. There's another brand called Cravot or Cyber rack. I called them to ask about their return policy. You can not return their racks to Amazon, because they are selling as a 3rd party seller. She told me in order to return their rack (Cravot or Cyber), it has to be unused, unassembled, in brand new condition, and I would pay for shipping. As far as I'm concerned, that's not an Amazon purchase and I do anything I can not to make those purchases. This rack from Young was 2 day delivery, and easy return if needed. As it turns out, I like it a lot and will be keeping it. Thanks.

Very happy with this rack. Extremely well built. Fit our two medium sized e-bikes perfectly (20” wheels), even with our basket and pack on the back. We added a generic u-bolt stabilizer for the hitch but it barely needed it! Folded up it is very secure also. The ramp works well but the on- Rack storage is really wobbly, will be using some bungee straps to secure it. Assembly was straight forward, good written instructions.

This bike rack has failed us on four occasions. We are now in the middle of Montana with a bike rack that has broken three times. We have been stuck in cities getting it welded on two occasions and have finally just been fed up with it and want to just throw it on the side of the road. We have repeatedly contacted Young Electric, which is no small feet. We’ve sent videos we’ve sent pictures. We’ve sent bills from the welders who said it was made out of very thin, cheap metal. We’ve asked someone to call us so we could talk through it and no one has. Finally after many many emails, they agreed to send a new bar to hold one of the bikes up. The one that’s broken twice. They’re mailing it to our home in North Carolina and we are camping, with our bikes. Now the second arm has broken. I wish someone would airlift us a new bike rack made by another company. We have spent more on welders than we spent on the rack! And or we are considering selling our bikes here in Montana because it’s such a headache to transport them. But we love our bike. I wish someone would have told us this was such a problem. We have abided by all the rules, we use lots of straps to tie them down and I have pictures and videos. It was an Amazon choice, bike rack for our two bikes and we are so so over doing what Amazon suggests.

This bike rack is the real deal. Solid, but heavy. Took about 20 minutes to assemble. We have two Jaison Hunter X Pro bikes with fat tires and they fit perfectly. Highly recommend if you’re able to lift this rack to mount to your hitch. It is SOLID!
