  • A True Home Theater Beast — Picture Quality Is Incredible
Size: 100 inch
I have had this 100-inch Hisense U8 set up for a while now, and so far I have absolutely no complaints. The picture quality is beyond impressive. Colors are bright and vibrant without looking overly artificial, the image stays sharp on such a massive screen, and the black levels and contrast make movies and streaming content look excellent. I have seen plenty of people say to buy the comparable Samsung instead because this Hisense is supposedly nowhere close, but based on my real-world experience, I disagree. For the way I use it, which is primarily streaming movies, shows, and other content, this television looks every bit like a high-end display. I do not feel like I am missing anything by choosing the Hisense. The 100-inch size completely changes the room. It feels much closer to having a theater or projector setup, but with the brightness, clarity, and convenience of a television. Even regular shows become much more immersive, and good-quality 4K content looks incredible. It also handles a reasonably bright room better than I expected. I cannot give a fair opinion on the built-in speakers because I do not use the television for sound. As shown in my photos, it is connected to a full home-theater system, so all audio runs through my receiver and speakers. My review is based primarily on picture quality, streaming performance, and the overall experience. The television is obviously huge and heavy, so mounting and positioning it is not a one-person job. Once installed, though, it is absolutely worth the effort. This has become the centerpiece of my home-theater setup, and I would purchase it again without hesitation. ... show more

  • Absolutely worth it! A true home theater experience.
Size: 100 inch
After spending a lot of time comparing Sony, Samsung, LG and TCL, I decided to go with the Hisense 100” U8 Mini-LED, and I couldn’t be happier. The picture quality is outstanding. HDR content looks incredible, blacks are deep, colors are vibrant without looking oversaturated, and the brightness is more than enough even during the day. Gaming on the PS5 has been amazing. Games like The Last of Us Part II Remastered look absolutely stunning with excellent detail, smooth motion and very low input lag. Movies are equally impressive. Once you spend a little time adjusting the picture settings to your preference, the image quality rivals TVs that cost significantly more. The Google TV interface is fast, setup was straightforward, and the TV has worked flawlessly. If you’re looking for a true cinematic experience at home without spending OLED flagship money, this TV is an incredible value. I would absolutely buy it again. ... show more

  • Greatest Value Incredible Quality
Size: 65 inch
I was getting by with a decade old Panasonic plasma TV, and in addition to noticing degradation with the screen image, I was astounded with how much heat it produced making it highly energy inefficient. I’ve always been a consumer of the higher-end brands because I feel like you “get what you pay for“ and based on my room and requirements I was ready to move forward with a high-end Sony Bravia. As they moved closer to the purchase, I noticed an inordinate number of negative reviews. This caused me to start again with my research and Hisense kept popping up. I recalled renting an Airbnb earlier in the year that had a high since flatscreen installed, and I was amazed by the picture clarity. I switched gears completely, and began looking at data from the Hisence mini LED and was amazed at the overwhelmingly positive reviews. The price was literally half of the set that I was looking at and I figured with purchasing through Amazon I would give it a try. To say I was impressed would be a gross understatement. The set is amazing. The picture quality is excellent. The remote is fantastic. Every part of it feels super high-end, except the price! My one and only complaint would have been the sound quality coming out of the built-in speakers. In the past, I have used $1000 plus Sonos units, but they tend to be glitchy. Upon further review, I found that Hi sense makes their own dedicated sound bar that comes with a subwoofer for a fraction of the price of anything else on the market. The set up an installation on both was beyond simple. The sound quality is excellent, and the consistency of operation is five star all the way. ... show more

  • Hisense is great after all.
Size: 75 inch
Two weeks with this monster, and believe me, this 75" TV packs a wallop for its price. Just as good as an OLED, the picture is so clear and vibrant, the sound is 4.1.2 Ch Audio, but it's even better connected to a Dolby Atmos/DTS-X theater system. Overall, I never thought Hisense would be a match to my Sony 77" OLED (don't get me wrong, this is the best TV I've ever owned), and now I have the best of both worlds. I was amazed after seeing a 136" Hisense Micro- LED TV at Best Buy and the 100" at Costco. They blew my socks off, just as the Hisense 75" Mini-LED Google TV I just bought. AWESOME. ... show more

  • Great Bang for the Buck
Size: 65 inch
This TV arrived quickly via UPS in good condition. It’s boxer in the rear for the sound system speakers and looks the same in the front with the Hisense logo centered at the bottom this time around. The inputs are recessed from the outer edge, making it difficult to get to them after wall mounting. However, none are facing back this time around. All are facing toward the outer edge. Out of the box, there was the typical Google TV setup followed by one system update (P0205 to P0415) and 2 remote updates. There are only 3 HDMI inputs this time around, but they are ALL 4K/165Hz though. It seems to be running Android 14 (from 12) with a much later build and security patch level. Google TV seems to be about the same or slightly snapper than the U8N. Storage still 20GB (minus system use, formatting, etc.) Within all the TV menus, there are additional settings added, some moved and others re-arranged compared to the U8N. One I like is a speed test within the Network & Internet settings for example. There is a Quick Tab Tools option on the bottom menu that I think is new, etc. With this TV, I’m just connecting gaming consoles via HDMI (Xbox, PlayStation & Switch 2 one day) and an HDTV antenna for one local channel for storm updates. I’m NOT using WIFI, eARC, PC connection, Fire TV Cube, Apple TV, etc. I hope to try the USB-C input on the side at some point as a display input. First impressions of image quality: little to no vignetting in the corners (way less than the U8N); less Blooming thanks to the additional zones and tech; SDR and all HDR looked great to me with little to no setting changes. Gradients look fine for an 8-Bit FRC display. Motion smoothing is great, but I still personally prefer it off. Motion overall seems on par with the U8N: again, with no setting changes. As such, I must note that there are more image settings (especially Intelligent and AI) than the U8N. Console gaming wise, everything is great in every mode (all Xbox and PlayStation resolutions, refresh rates, etc. are fully supported). I still really like the Game Bar just like U8N. This time around there are themes that can be set to automatically change for PC, Xbox, PlayStation and Switch. The 4.1.2 sound is OK. I don’t use soundbars, but I think anyone who does will continue to do so with the TV – or use a surround sound system. I’m still experimenting with the sound settings. I do use the room acoustics setting like on the U8N by using the remote’s mic. More sound options than the U8N and certainly a different sound right out of the box. ... show more

  • Love this TV, BUT
Size: 85 inch
This TV exceeded my expectations for quality of picture AND sound. Picture is extremely bright, and the sound is the best I've heard from a TV (even so, I installed a good sound bar). I have turned down the brightness twice, as even in a bright room, it pops. The only reason I don't give it 5 stars, is that I can't turn it on with the remote. It worked for a few days, then I spent hours on the phone with their AI "person" trying various fixes, including new batteries, taking out the batteries and reinstalling them, and finally resetting the TV (had to put back all my settings). This worked for a few times, and then the same thing. I finally stumbled on a fix: if I hold down the on button and say Turn on TV, it goes on !! Anyway the TV is wonderful, with a great picture and sound, and it has loads of smart functions and built in apps. Highly recommend, but watch out for the remote on function. ... show more

  • Best Choice for 85 Inch TV!
Size: 85 inch
I spent weeks researching 85 inch TVs, using AI, physical exams, consumer reviews, and tech articles. This choice repeatedly came out #1. Picture quality is exemplary - especially after configuring the settings. Installation is ridiculously easy, especially if you use HangSmart mounting. The sound! I have soundbars with subwoofers on other TVs. This 82 watt multi-speaker is better. Great volume, great balance and direction, bass you can feel. Not audiophile quality, but nothing extra on the wall and more than suitable for movies and sports. I'm not a gamer, so no comment on that aspect. I do stream, and the picture quality, especially on Dolby and HDR services like AppleTV is fantastic. And the glare reduction is the best I've seen. I've only had it for 3 weeks, but given the price, feature set, and audio / video performance this would be my #1 pick every time. ... show more

  • Hisense 65U8QG (2025) Review – Amazing Hardware, Broken Dolby Vision Experience
Size: 65 inch
The Hisense 65U8QG is an impressive TV on paper and, in many ways, in real-world use. Brightness is outstanding, Mini-LED local dimming is excellent, and overall image quality is fantastic when watching SDR, HDR, HDR10, and HDR10+ (a little dimmed but within expectations) content. Colors are vibrant, highlights pop, blacks are deep for an LED TV, and motion handling at 165Hz is great. For gaming and non–Dolby Vision content, this TV feels premium and easily competes above its price range. Unfortunately, Dolby Vision completely ruins the experience. When streaming Dolby Vision content, the image looks washed out, dim, flat, and lifeless. Blacks are lifted, contrast collapses, highlights lose impact, and the overall picture looks dull and “sad.” No amount of tweaking fixes it. This is extremely frustrating because it completely erases all the good this TV does with other formats. This becomes a deal-breaker because most major streaming services rely heavily on Dolby Vision. We primarily watch Disney+ and HBO Max, where most flagship movies and shows are streamed exclusively in Dolby Vision. On this TV, those titles are simply unwatchable, which defeats the purpose of owning a high-end HDR display. If you never plan to watch Dolby Vision, this TV is amazing and offers incredible value. But if you rely on streaming apps and expect Dolby Vision to look good, this TV has a serious limitation that directly affects what services you can realistically use with the native apps. Because Dolby Vision performance is unacceptable for our viewing habits, I will be returning the TV. It’s a shame, because without this issue, the U8QG would be an easy recommendation. Pros: •Excellent brightness and HDR impact •Fantastic SDR, HDR10, and HDR10+ performance •Great local dimming and motion handling •Strong value for the price Cons: •Dolby Vision looks washed out, dim, and flat •Major limitation for Disney+, HBO Max, and other DV-heavy services Final verdict: Amazing TV held back by a broken Dolby Vision experience. ... show more
