Description

Every second counts on the job. That's exactly what inspired us to create the hilmor Quick-Engage Flare and Swage Kit. It's all about easy. Just push down the yoke to engage the tube and with fewer rotations than your current tool, you've got a precise flare or swage. An innovative spring-loaded block holds the tube firmly in place. A tube-stop arrow easily identifies the correct height and position of the tube (goodbye, nickel). And our ball detents ensure proper and precise alignment. All told, this tool offers more convenience and less frustration.

  • Wont hold up

  • Fail
Broken used maybe 3 times and it can’t make a flare anymore? It fails as soon as tension in but on the tool.

  • This tool is Garbage
I bought this to do minisplits with and it produces a ok flare literally 1 out of 3 tries. When you go to crank the tool down to create the flare the safety feature engages tool early and does not even produce the flare. The guide on the tool has play so if it is not perfectly aligned with the top of the clamp you get the slippage. It just a headache dealing with this tool especially when you are up on a ladder with your arms raised above your head trying to use this tool. Not worth the money. I ended up getting the Cps Blackmax. Let me tell you that it is probably the best flaring tool I’ve used it is lighter, easier to use and produces perfect flares every time. Also it is cheaper ... show more

Received tool in good condition. So far it has proved to be an excellent tool for flares and swages. I haven't had to use it too much but I just have to be more careful on smaller diameter piping such as 1/4 and 5/16 and not overtightening the clamp bar. The clamp naturally leaves knurl type markings on the pipe, the same as other flare tools, but I've noticed those little krurls might interfere with your flare nut if you're not careful. Just be sure to practice on some scrap tubing before you start flaring or swaging on you're actual lineset. Also, the bar has a convenient pipe stop for flares. It's nice but I wasn't sure if it compensated for 410a systems which usually require a bit more flare surface area. The user instructions do not aren't that specific when it comes to this. I usually clamp the pipe flush to the top of the stop just to make sure. Haven't had any problems so far. I would definitely recommend getting this tool if you are shopping for one. ... show more

  • Except no substitutes
This set to me is the best on the he market. I have been using the swagging kit for a couple of months now and it is awesome. I could have purchased the expander kit but after reading a few reviews on the different brands out there I decided to go with Hilmor instead. I find that I can swage a tube in under five minutes before without burs our unnecessary bends or crimps in the tube. This is a very compact system can compared to similar models and comes in a case with metal straps that I hope will make it more durable in the long run over the typical plastic ones that come with similar sets. ... show more

  • The tool does make good swages and flares
The tool does make good swages and flares, however, it isn't quit as easy to use as they claim. It takes quite a bit of pressure to close the block on the tubing. you have to squeeze the blocks together before you can get the yoke to move in to position. They don't have to be all the way together but close. When you tighten up the clamping screw it closes the blocks the rest of the way. It is also very difficult to crank down on the handle to make the flare/swage. I have the yellow jacket deluxe flaring tool and it is much easier to make a flare with it. YJ seems to require much less effort to turn the handle to make the flare. I bought this tool primarily to make swages so I don't think I will be using it to make flares anyway. I think the Hilmor compact swage tool would be easier to use. ... show more
