This tool did allow me to install the overly strong shoe retaining springs that came in a hardware kit. I was unable to do it with my usual needle nose pliers. At 78 I just couldn't apply the pressure needed. This tool gave me the extra push that I needed. Works well, just a tad bit small for my brakes, mine are a little larger than the bottom surface, so the cup kept tilting on me making it a 10 minute job of fighting with the clip. I am still giving a 5 start rating because it is well made, and would probably function with smaller spring cups.

This item is a complete piece of junk. Save your money. It works for removal, which can be done by hand without this. It doesn't work even slightly for reassembly which is where it is needed. You will likely need to resort to needle nose or some other method. What a nightmare!
