My daughter has really enjoyed using this bike. At around 4'5" she has the handlebars and seat set to nearly the lowest options on the 24" model and it works well. In terms of construction quality, I don't have any complaints. It feels well made, is fairly light, and I think it should last for a long time. Assembly was easy, but it took me a while because I started with the instruction booklet. If you go straight to the video here, you can get a better idea of how to put it together. The booklet didn't have a QR code for English instructions (but German, Spanish, Italian, and others are easily accessible). Also, the booklet showed similar handlebars, but not quite the same as is included here. If you've assembled bikes before, this is probably a 15-minute job. The only thing that really took time for me was adjusting the front and rear brakes. This type of mechanism just required a lot of pulling cables at different spots and an Allen wrench to maneuver the brakes. There are a few attention to detail issues. Note that the bike frame shows "BAMCBASE" and the seat is called "AMCBASE." Will anyone ever notice or care? Perhaps not. The shifters also felt tighter than I am used to. My daughter had no trouble rotating between gears but it takes a little more strength than what I would consider normal. The front derailleur has a lot of play so you may not actually line up the #2 on the left shifter to get the middle gear, you have to adjust a little to get it just right depending on the rear gear selection. Decent bike that fits our needs. My wife needed a new bike as hers was showing its wear and things were needing replaced at a rate that dictated a new purchase. This bike was perfect. Switching gears is easy as it is incorporated into the grips. Standard 2 handle brakes. Seat was a bit thin for her as she enjoys the wider seats found on trikes so will have to change that but not a failure on the bike, just a preference. Mountain bike style handle bars. Kickstand is oversized and very nice as it is easy to reach with the toes. The purple is a bit much but, again, preference but it isn't bad. She just isn't a purple person. Easily adjustable seat. Assembly was straight forward and instructions were easy to follow. Went together with no problems as all parts were available with nothing missing. Road quite nice as well even though no shocks. Good bike that should last a few years! ... show more

This review is for the Hiland 26 inch woman's mountain bike. I ordered this for my daughter so she can ride around the neighborhood, for exercise and to be less car dependent. She had her boyfriend assemble it because she's not adept at mechanical matters and he was able to put it together easily. The bicycle is very good looking with what I would call a soft periwinkle blue color. The 26 inch model was appropriate for her 5'10" height. Unfortunately, this bike is not for her. She felt that it was very lightweight and not very sturdy. Even though she's a confident bike rider, she felt nervous that it would break and that it's a safety hazard. She owned bikes in the past and had never before expressed this concern about any other bike. I myself can't point to a weakness in this product as I don't have experience with bicycles. I'm basing this review on the fact that my daughter will not be riding it again. ... show more

My adult daughter has not had a bike before but after I moved to where she lived we wanted to ride together and wanted a decent but not overly priced bike. This Hiland Bamcbase hybrid bicycle was in the price range for a well built basic bike. It rides well with easy to change gears but the seat was not to her liking and too slim. We exchanged it for two spare seats that I had that made her happy and gave it a better ride. It is made of steel so is not super light but is fine and rugged and takes some abuse. The brakes are the traditional rubber pads that fit over the rim. I like that all the cables are external making it easy to change or adjust if needed. We did have a little trouble getting the handlebars in with not much help from the instruction manual. When it came to the brakes we had to deflate the tires and remove the pads to get the assembly over the tires. Other than these two issues it was fairly straightforward and very happy with it and look forward to many years of use. ... show more
