Nice pit for the price. The removable ash tray is a look domed in the middle so you have to be careful lifting it out so as not to dump ash in the bottom. There will be ash in the bottom that will need to be dumped out. The pit is less smoky than a regular pit, but certainly not as effective as the higher priced leading brand.

My husband just said "well, I know I rarely say this, but I'm extremely satisfied...with this purchase". We just spent a week with my daughter and her husband who have a Solo firepit and we decided we wanted one. Whoa! Us old people can't afford that! But as we were searching, the HGD firepit popped up for MUCH less money. We decided to give it a try. We are happily pleased and rather impressed. There is no difference between the Solo and the HGD. It is quality built and the heat output is amazing! Great Value for the money!

This is an efficient wood burning furnace!!! Works wonderfully and as advertised. The ring on top does have to be handled carefully, so it doesn’t get bent, and I still don’t know whether it is proper to have it cone side up or cone side down, but, overall this fire pit stove works wonderfully. Burns a lot of fuel, which is what I wanted for getting rid of old wood - and be aware it puts out a lot of heat and very, very little smoke once the flame gets going. Finishes with almost all of the wood burned - only minimal very small chips left in the end. Size is good for lots of people gathering around, and staying warm with no smoke. Very happy with this purchase especially for the price relative to the big name brand that that’s out there. If I had to do it all over again, I would. Well worth it!

My husband’s parents got a solo and I didn’t want to pay that much. We got this and I can’t tell a difference. I did get a heat deflector and lid (to put it out) separately and love it all! It’s good quality and works great. It does smoke when you first light it, but that goes down to almost nothing after it’s burning for a while. Overall very happy with this product.
