  • Supportive Yet Bulky: A Hernia Belt Adventure
Size: Large
Decided to have my husband give this hernia belt a whirl, as his previous one was practically hanging by a thread. At first glance, the design seems thoughtful with its detachable pads and promises of discrete support. The lightweight aspect is true; he hardly noticed it under his work clothes, and it didn't turn him into a walking advertisement for hernia issues. That's a win. However, in his experience, while the belt does lend support, it's a double-edged sword. The contour pads feel too bulky for his liking, and he can't seem to wear it for extended periods without fidgeting. Wearing it feels like a toss-up between comfort and support. Oddly enough, the instructions turned into a sort of cryptic puzzle that took two engineers to decode – not exactly what you look for in a medical appliance. Long story short, it works, but it doesn't make him sing praises. Good for a temporary fix or short stints, but the search for the perfect hernia belt continues. ... show more

  • A little uncomfortable
Size: Large
I tried a couple different hernia belts and ended up not using this one regularly. I found the insertable pads to be a little too rigid and kind of uncomfortable when walking about for long stretches of time. The sizing was OK but I felt the adjustment was a little faffy and it didn't hold its size as well as it should have. Overall I was kind of disappointed with this one. ... show more

  • Great belt to help control inguinal hernia
Size: Large
I have an inguinal hernia, and at this time, surgery is not an option. So I need this belt to give me support and to help to control my hernia. I've worn the belt for several weeks now, and I'm quite happy it. It's comfortable (or at least as comfortable as a hernia truss can be, I guess). It uses Velcro to adjust its size instead of buckles, so it's possible to adjust it precisely so that it fits right. It remains comfortable, even when I've worn it all day. I won't say I don't feel it when I'm wearing it... I do. But it's not uncomfortable or distracting. And it gives me the support I need. My only drawback is the instructions -- they're not just inadequate, they're not understandable at all. Fortunately, there's only so many ways you can put the straps onto the belt (and the pictures on the product page help because you know what the finished result should look like), so just ignore the useless instructions and be prepared to spend a little time figuring out how to "assemble" the belt yourself. Once you've got it put together and adjusted to fit your needs, you're in business. In summary, it takes longer to start using the belt than it would if the instructions were better, but since the primary purpose of this belt is to help control a hernia -- and it does that well, once you've got the belt put together -- I can definitely recommend this belt. ... show more

  • Highly Adjustable, Very Helpful
Size: X-Large
(1) First, when you first look at the belt, it may not be intuitive, and the INSTRUCTIONS are not going to be a big help. However, a little common sense will go far, once you understand you’ve got 3 velcro straps and only one absolute requirement (the wide strap needs to go around your waist). (2) It’s a VERSATILE belt, (A) obviously with the 2 removable pads, can be used for EITHER A SINGLE OR DOUBLE HERNIA. (B) It also can be worn very high or very low, depending on the location of your hernia(s). I particularly appreciate that. (C) The 2 thinner velcro straps can be run down under your crotch/glutes but some trial and error may be necessary re: comfort / avoiding chafing. (3) STRAPS - Since I only have a single hernia, I could use one of the 2 thinner straps to reinforce the waist-strap, which is definitely built to accommodate larger waists than mine (necessary because the bottom flap velcro is correct but the top flap velcro has nothing to attach to, near my left hip). (4) PADS are really thick, and if your hernia is low enough (like mine), (A) this could impact what pants you can wear outside the house, without the bulge being too blatant. (B) In my case, because of my hernia’s (low) placement & the thickness of the pad, it does change how I raise / lift that leg (I have to raise my leg rotated further to the outside of my hip joint, rather than straight up/slight in, as my natural motion. That said, I’ve primarily worn this around the house rather than outside at work, and I’ve even felt benefits from sleeping in it (after a couple days of discomfort where i either slept or sat wrong, for too long). This is not a perfect solution, but it’s a helpful tool, and I wish I’d found it sooner, after struggling with an inguinal hernia for a couple years. ... show more

  • Effectively Does The Trick!
Size: Large
The media could not be loaded. I was improvising using a belt and a rolled up sock to keep my inguinal hernia in place and then i thought to myself.. amazon probably has these...so i ordered this one and i wish i would've ordered this much sooner. It's effective, comfortable and discreet. I do prefer to wear the belt over the underwear, it's also helpful if your underwear has an opening access for urinating, otherwise it can be a hassle if you have to undo the belt. So far I'm happy and i would recommend! Thanks for reading and I hope you found this helpful :) ... show more

  • worked but not very comfortable
Size: Small
Gave this to a good friend who was going to have hernia surgery. According to him, this was an ok pre surgery support belt - a bit bulky but he could use it for a short time before removing. He tried w/ and w/out the inserts but found it more comfortable w/ out the inserts. After the surgery, he found that it wasn't very comfortable for his needs - he's quite thin so not sure if that was why. He decided to stick w/ hot and cold therapy post surgery instead. But did mention that his Dr. had told him that something like this could help with recovery. ... show more
