Description

International design firm Studio 7.5 teamed up with Herman Miller to create an office chair that supports our evolving work culture. They noted that people today are constantly in motion as they work on their laptops and mobile devices. Mirra 2 is designed to provide support that moves with them. This dynamic support begins with the Butterfly Back seat that provides ample support, complete with gradated cutouts that flex for improved movement and circulation, a lumbar brace for your lower back and AireWeave 2 mesh that helps distribute weight and keeps you cool. In addition, Mirra 2 offers a passive harmonic tilt mechanism that allows natural reclining, four-stage FlexFront for altering seat depth and tilt tension knob for regulating seat give. Despite being packed with features, Mirra 2 has a lean, athletic form. It advances Studio 7.5's philosophy that “every molecule counts” by striving to use less material to achieve maximum performance. An environmentally sensitive design, Mirra 2 is made largely of materials that are recyclable at the end of its useful life.

This is by far the best Office Chair I have used. I have one at the office and I can sit for hours without any back pain or pain in the "buttocks" (a Forest Gump quote :-) ) I decided to purchase one for remote work since my old office chair, after a few hours, my whole body was aching even when the back and bottom pillows were added. We got these where I work, and I really found it to be great. So this one I ordered for my home office and I have been really happy with it. There are many adjustments, but the netting seems exactly right for me, and I have finally got it just right. They are expensive, and I have to admit that I cringed a little, but I also know I will be spending a lot of hours in this chair and it should last for years. It seems there are two groups of people: those who love the mesh like seats and those who don't. Personally I find Herman Miller chairs to be the most comfortable, especially for long periods. The pellicle material more evenly distributes body weight and creates fewer "pressure points". I have an Aeron at work and bought this Mirra 2 for home. Comes pre-assembled which is very helpful and everything about the chair is high quality. This model has every possible adjustment so it's impossible not to find a comfortable position. One difference between these and the Aeron's is that you tend to sit "on" these more than "in" the Aeron, so choose your seating style accordingly. These not only come with tilt/recline, but a knob to adjust tension, and arms are movable in all directions. These also come with a 12 year warranty, so for me it made sense since I tended to get 2 years out of a normal office chair before they came unscrewed/ripped/etc. At $200 per, the cost is equal, but the quality is higher, and my environmental impact is less since I am only buying a single chair. We have also had those at work for 10+ years and they still look and feel brand new. The design is also very sleek and modern and adds an air of sophistication to any room that a cheapo chair just doesn't. I highly recommend this and any Herman Miller product, they are well worth the investment. ... show more

    • Uncomfortable Mesh

Prior to purchasing this chair, I had never sat in one with mesh material. I had read reviews, some negative, about the Mirra 2, but decided to go ahead and make the purchase since I believe a good chair is worth the cost, and I was hopeful it would be everything I had in mind. This chair came fully assembled and was ready to be put to work within minutes of opening the box. It looks beautiful and is a high-quality chair, but within minutes of sitting in it I began having tingling feelings in my legs. I can still feel tingling right now, while sitting in the Mirra 2, on the back of my legs from my thighs down to my knees, down my calves, and in the tops of my feet. I tried numerous adjustments, and even called customer service at Herman Miller to ask for help making adjustments to solve the issue. I followed all of their suggestions. After not being able to find any relief, I have decided that the mesh just isn't supportive enough. I'm 5'10" and 160 lbs, so I don't think I should be having issues with this chair. And considering the cost, there should be no question of comfort at all since my prior seat was a very cheap one and I didn't have any issues like this. My prior chair was an inexpensive one from an office store. It wasn't uncomfortable, but it wasn't very good ergonomically speaking. I slouched in it, and that led to back pain. The Mirra 2 is designed in a way that you can't slouch -- it keeps you sitting correctly -- and that is a good thing. But if I have tingling on my legs that I can't resolve, I can't sit it in all day. I notice this tingling constantly while sitting in this chair, and it is distracting. Sadly, this one will be going back and I'll try one of the other quality chairs that uses a cushion rather than mesh. ... show more
