These Herm Sprenger Black Stainless Steel choke chain dog training collars come in Three sizes of wire thickness 2mm, 2.5 and 3mm. All collar measurements include both large end O rings ( collars are measured from the outer tip of one end O ring to the outer tip of the other end O ring). Fur saver and choke chains have to be able to slide over dog's head and ears. Fur saver and choke chains cannot be adjusted, that is why it is very important for them to fit properly. Some breeds have (ex. English Bulldog) their head a lot larger than their necks, in this case chain has to be long enough to slide over dog's head. Please keep in mind that Herm Sprenger collars are manufactured in Germany and initial length is measured in centimeters, during conversion from centimeters to inches measurements are rounded to the nearest inch. Super great quality the size I got fit my dog great. It works well as a training tool. The color has lasted quite a while, but it eventually greys out. I was taught how to use a chain by a trainer, which I think is the best way to learn how to use correctly so you don’t injure your pet.

Fit 55lb rescue dog perfectly. The pet store only had very thick, long collars or 18” and under that were bracelet thin. You don’t want a chain collar to be too thin because it should distribute the tension, not cut into the dog. You also don’t want it to be too long or it will catch constantly. Great looking collar, but the black color came off on my white american bully's neck. You can tell that the color is fading after a month of daily wear, but that honestly wouldn't bother me if he didn't have grey neck. I'd buy it if your dog is darker colored! I contacted customer service and they are going to exchange it for plain stainless steel that doesn't have that coated treatment and we'll see how it goes! I think the Measurement was correct if you measured from the farthest parts of each ring. He usually wears 22in and with this one, a 23in would have been a more comfortable fit, but it still works. ... show more

Best quality brand. My dogs neck is 17” So naturally I added 3” and ordered a 20”. Immediately apparent it was too small when it arrived. I recommend taking your dogs measurements and adding 5” to account for the two 1” rings which are not “usable” length.

    • Choker loops welded but chain links are not.
Liked this chain a lot but returned it because the links were not individually welded. Still it’s a good strong chain but could be better for the price.
