I've got a higher end chef's knife, but needed some backups for when that one was busy. These things come out of the box very sharp and have performed very well so far on everything I've thrown at them, veggies, meats, potatoes. I haven't tried to use them on extremely tough things like bone, and I haven't used them long enough to gauge how well they hold an edge, but I trust Henckels and believe these will make great backup knives for a long time to come. ... show more

I quite like these knives. I do wish the larger one was a bit heavier duty but at this price point, that's a minor concern. Then handle well, hold their edge, and do the work they need to do.

I love the knives I purchased..finally I can cut through tomato skin! My problem is I read in product description that the country of origin is India. I can live with that. However, the box says made in China! I avoid like the plague buying products from China. I've had Henckels steak knives since 1979 and I still love them!
