Pros: - Easy to apply, flows smoothly - Excellent seal, very strong, will not give out - Forms a hard seal - Paintable - Can be trimmed with a knife, chisel or sandpaper Cons: - If you are expecting a totally flexible seal, this is not the product for you - No instructions for cleanup - Limited shelf life of 90 days once opened I used this with a 3” PVC pipe and rubber cap that was slightly larger. This made a great seal and tight bond that just won’t let go. I’m impressed with its ability to adhere and seal. I’m giving this a four primarily due to lack of instructions on how to clean up. This went on like a good caulk and has solved a couple of leaks. I smeared it into corners with my finger and it was resistant to cleaning, which I suppose is a good thing. Keep some rags or paper towels handy for cleaning as you go. I used most of the tube in one session, but made a few stops around the home finding leaks to fix. Sealed the high brake light on my truck. Sealed around my overflow mailbox. Sealed around my fiberglass shower where trim was coming up. Even used it to fill a 1" hole in the wall where I had previously put a valve, and the caulk didn't drip out before curing. The main job I needed to tackle was a sink drain which I chose to replace without realizing that the steel sink was in worse shape than the drain stem which looked corroded. When I removed the drain stem, pieces of the sink came off with the gasket. The double bottom hole was ragged and had chunks come off it. I spackled the sink and washer with this sealant and was happy with how it held its shape and could bridge gaps. I'm sure it doesn't look pretty in the picture, but it shows how the caulk didn't try to drip before smooshing the sealing gasket into it for a successful fix which eliminated the leak. The tube says fast cure, but I guess that's relative. It gives you plenty of time to move things around and smooth the surface, and remained soft and tack for a good few hours. I felt it cured enough to test for low pressure leaks after 6 hours, but it kept firming up for a couple more days. It doesn't dry hard, but it remains flexible and rubbery. It doesn't want to pull up from what it's glued to easily. I don't know my chemistry enough to understand the importance of this hybrid polymer vs silicone, but It doesn't smell. I haven't tried painting it, but that would be an advantage over most silicones. Screw on cap helps keep tube fresh between uses. This is a good caulk for waterproofing and gluing things together. The price seems on the high side, but I haven't shopped for others with similar chemistry. It's easy to use and comes in a good variety of colors. I know the 5200 and specialty marine caulks can easily double this price, but success will depend on preparation and application as much as product used. I would recommend this if you're looking for a good quality sealant for home use, especially if sensitive to the odors of other caulks. ... show more

Working with sealants can be a mess. We have always had tubes of them in the garage and most of those quickly become unusable. When I received my tube of Hemway Bright White Kitchen Sealant I knew it was time to tackle trimming on a crown molding on our newly installed kitchen cabinets which hadn't fit together as well as I had wanted. Irregardless of the care with which I measured, cut and installed them. Uneven walls and ceilings together with imperfectly angled cuts will get me every time any more. I know you won't ever have those days but mine seem to be coming with increasing frequency in passing years. I decided to open this tube up and give it a go. I knew I didn't want to use silicone ever again since cleanup is such a mess, and a section that I did on the base cabinets turned yellow along the bead. Yes, white cabinets turning yellow isn't good. Contacting the cabinet company they said that 'Sorry, there is a chemical reaction which causes that but that it will go away in a couple of days.' And it finally did, but it took about a week. So, No More Silicone Sealants on any of my white cabinets or wood trims ! This tube of Hemway sealant was shipped in a bubble-pack envelope. Not the best option because the tube spout was broken from it's holder at an angle, eliminating some of the threads at the end. The threads were intact sufficiently to secure them together so it wasn't a total loss. Just worrying for the evaluation. I was surprised by how much less messy this was than other types of caulking I had used in the past. It went on more cleanly, faster and no over dispensing, which always griped me. The sealant is a bright white and a nice match to my trim. The bead applied smoothly, tooled easily and cleanup when needed was fast and easy. This will now replace what I have worked with in the past as it appears to be a superior product on all counts. When working with this type it is much less about the base cost than getting the job finished correctly and having it looking great. This is a go too.. And no 'yellow paint' transitions ! ... show more
