Use this in my vinyl shop to cut out vinyl graphics. Works great. Sharp blade. Definitely a time saver if you're doing a lot of repetitive cutting. The only downside to this one compared to one of our previous cutters is that this one does not have a spring loaded hinge. Our previous cutter's hinge had a spring that pulled the handle up when you let it go. Since this one doesn't have the spring, the blade will drop if you release it. This could be dangerous, but after getting used to it, it's no big deal. In fact, if you raise the blade all the way up, it has some resistance that seems to hold it in place.     • I'm an artist, this quillotine has been perfect to cut my heavy watercolor paper!
It arrived in perfect condition and I was mostly concerned how the blade would cut my thick watercolor paper, it cuts great 1 to 2 sheets stacked ( 300 gsm /140 lb. ) but more than that and the paper gets frayed and doesnt cut cleanly, but I expected as much and dont need it to cut more than that at a time. it is very sharp, and high quality and I love that it has a safety latch too. They ship this cutter correctly with plenty of packaging! I'm a design professional and this is a good piece of kit. It's not lightweight, and that's how I like it. Very solid. This trimmer is very heavy which is what we were looking for. The guillotine is very sharp and have had no issues cutting anything we need to cut/trim.

    • Disappointing Cutting
Paper blade is not aligned with paper cutter edge. It consistently CHEWS the paper in a cutting area right around the middle of the page. I can only cut two sheets and bring the blade down very slowly, and it still chews the page. I purchased this in the summer, and have not used a lot, but now with the school years I find that is defective. The return window closed and now I am stuck with this inferior product. Very disappointed. I teach art for a non profit and of course, I need to use this with frequency, it is useless. I will never buy X-ACTO Paper cutters again. I love this cutter. If you buy it, though, be careful as the blade is positioned lower than the actual base and is not covered. I nearly cut my thumb when trying to pull the cutter out of the box because I didn't know this. If you buy it, I'd suggest making a fabric slip or something to go over the blade because it's a risk/liability. As far as the performance of the device, absolutely no complaints. It's worth the extra to buy the larger, wooden base guillotine cutter over the cheaper ones. It cuts incredibly cleanly, sharply, and accuracy is easy to achieve. ... show more

    • Nice Trimmer but...
I'm was tired of using a rotary blade and a square to trim my paper projects. X-acto 24" x 24" trimmer was exactly what I wanted. Looks nice and had an accurate cutting grid. Not overly heavy but still felt sturdy. I needed one that would cut straight and true because my projects require the paper to be rolled and ends placed together without any gaps. I tested it on a piece of 40lb copy paper and it cut nice crisp edges but... At that point I let out a sigh because I noticed the top 2 inches or so cut crooked. About 1 - 1.5mm angle. The rest seemed straight. I continued to cut strips trying to see if I held the paper down in different ways if it would make a difference. In the end I found holding the paper down right next to the safety bar at the top I could get it to cut with about a 1mm angle in the first 2 inches. Nothing I tried would solve the issue so I ultimately had to return it. In all other aspects I loved the trimmer and would recommend it IF and ONLY IF that one flaw doesn't make a difference to you. So my search continues for a guillotine paper trimmer that cuts true from one end to the other. Took off 2 stars because for the price it should not have the flaw. ... show more

    • Cuts greaT, ARM DOES NOT STAY UP!
The cutting arm will not stay up!!!!!!! I have not found a way to adjust it to ensure the cutting arm will stay up. Lot of work to use it since you have to rest the arm on your shoulder while you organize your work. The manufacture does not make it easy to get a hold of them. Cuts great.
