This was a nice kit. For me, it would have been better if the pieces were longer. Due to having an old house with an old wooden garage door, each metal piece was just a fraction of a millimeter off from each other. That made it difficult to slide the seal through the grooves. I had to trim one of the metal pieces with a reciprocating saw to make it fit. Then, I had to figure out how to get the seal on with the door track in the way. With a flathead screwdriver and a lot of patience, I was able to push it in there. This seal is heavy duty. So much that my garage door no longer goes all the way down without being pushed and held down with the lock.

In our new garage, the concrete was poured slightly off level in one of the doorways resulting in a gap under the side of one of the doors. Wind and mice were making their way in through the gap and I wanted to fix it without resorting to grinding concrete. My initial thought was to remove the factory seal, fabricate some kind of a tapered 8' shim for the bottom of the door and then reattach the factory seal to that. Fortunately, I found this kit before I went through all that. There were no instructions included, but it's pretty simple. This kit comes with sections of aluminum extrusion that are screwed to the bottom of your garage door to hold the rubber seal. Alternatively I realized when I was done the factory seal on my door also had slots that would accommodate the flanges on this seal. The sections of extrusion fit my door perfectly and the included screws worked to hold it all in place. Once they're all installed, the seal can be slid in from the end of the door. This is the trickiest part of the install, and a spray bottle with some rubbing alcohol to use a lubricant and a second pair of hands will really help here. In the pictures you can see that this seal is significantly beefier than the original in every way. The last two photos are the before and after of my door, with the gap now eliminated. Because of how much better this door now seals, I'm planning to replace the seals on the other two doors with these same kits. This was a great find as it easily solved my problem and actually improved on the original product!

The garage door seal is a great product. The seal replaced a worn out seal that was on my garage door. This seal was easy to install and fits perfectly after cutting. Made with very thick material that help keeps the heat out of my garage during these hot days. Hoping it will work equally well in the winter. The garage door seal is a great product that I m happy to recommend.
