This motion sensor is just sensitive enough to detect my dog and people, but it does not come on randomly when cars drive past, or if the wind blows the trees around. the motion sensor itself seems to be working ok...for now, however the mounting plate is very poorly designed. It is too shallow so modifications will be necessary in order to securely attach to electrical box. The mounting arm will need to be shortened by 1/4 inch ...or a bit more, or otherwise it obstructs the fit to the box....this issue was already identified in another review. The plate being too shallow also causes wires to impede the fit. The light sockets have no gaskets. so the housing is ..poorly designed and cheap as they all are however. I messed with mine to make it work and fit ...,,test fit before you get up on ladder with it.....also no gasket supplied for between plate and box.....I will silicone mine up....its cheap and as I said..sensor is working for now.....so will see ... show more

We have had several hard power outages and brown outs and this light has come back on every time so far. Our power outages have ruined a lot of things but not this one. I would buy this again. More on this, We have brown outs and quick power outages and long power outages during storms when trees touch the power lines. When the power comes back on and doesn't go off again and again, all i do is turn the power off to this light for 5 minutes then turn it back on. Within an hour or 2 it stops going on and going off over and over. If it does that don't worry about it, it will reset itself before tomorrow night. I love this model because so far it has not been ruined by our power outages. I like it so much that i bought 2 and i keep the 2nd one brand new in its box for a spare or if i want one in another location. It has been working for less than a year but perfectly. JUST NOW (10/26/2021) i walked out in the dark and it came on perfectly. Im very happy with it and as soon as one of my other different brands quit working i will use my spare one of these to replace the bad other brand. Then i might order another 2 more. JUST NOW (12/19/2021) I just used up my spare motion sensor light. I had another brand from 2005 in a different location and it finally died. (that's not too bad) I confirmed that I had power to it and it was still not working. Of course i tested the old bulbs in a separate light and the bulbs we good. Im talking about ANOTHER BRAND that failed. OK, now i have 2 of these motion sensor outside fixtures working perfectly as of 1 hour ago. I will order 2 more as spares right now. You know, even if these lasted only 5 years they would be worth buying them over and over because right now in Alaska its dark about 3:30 in the afternoon and its not light in the morning until 8:00am or so. These lights have to work over time in Alaska especially when the temperature is often cold. It was 8 degrees yesterday. SO = these are good lights in my opinion! I would recommend them to a friend. ... show more

Amazon sent a replacement unit and this one works correctly, but the first one stayed on all night. I'm not a fan of the one screw mounting system. This unit is not super water resistant. The ball hinge could allow water into the sensor, so I filled it with silicone to avoid the sensor going bad too soon. PIR sensors circuits seem to be made from recycled cow pies, and they all go bad over time. ... show more

    • The reason they turn on and off....

The reason the lights turn on and off is because of the night/day detection switch on the bottom the sensor box, its very sensitive. If the bulb being used is too big or too bright, it immediately triggers the daylight sensor and that's why the lights cycle on and off every 5 - 8 seconds. Try using a smaller size light bulb like PAR20 floods. I stuck a small piece of blue painters tape over the night/day sensor eye and that works fine - something similar may work. The outside lights are on a switch, so I also just turn it off at the switch daily when I turn the outside garage lights on and off. ... show more
