Chlorine gets expensive and is a pain to deal with all summer long. This made my pool a lot clearer, cleaner, and a lot less work. No more chlorine on a regular basis. One or two times a year add some salt and it works great. The replacement cells are a little on the pricey side nowadays and I am not sure I am saving money but it is a lot easier to maintain. I purchased an electronic salt meter and that is all I ever test in the water. It has stayed stable for about 7 years now with the salt water. I will continue with the salt system.     • What a terrible experience
The cell arrived defective. I put it in and immediately got an error light on the system. Put the old cell back and it started working as expected. Before I returned it, I checked my options for support. It said to contact Hayward Support so I gave it a shot. To call the experience a fiasco would be too generous. They had me register for warranty support before they would even discuss the problem. I registered, waited 5 days, called back. They claimed that there was no record of my registration. They also told me that support and warranty departments can’t communicate so they couldn’t even tell me why the warranty registration didn’t go through. After that, they said that they would have a technician call me within 48 hours to help. 3 days later with no call, I decided it was time to return the cell. Still waiting for a refund. Right now my big decision to make - risk spending another 450 on something with TERRIBLE support and risk another defective cell OR spend more to replace the entire system and avoid ever working with Hayward again.
