    • Worst Warranty Customer Service Ever

I've contacted Hayward Customer Support on 7 separate occasions seeking to have a failed flow sensor switch replaced because it was damaged during shipment. The flow sensor monitors the water flow and provides a fail-safe shutoff of the chlorine generator cell when it senses no water flowing through the system. As smart design if the flow sensor works as designed. Calling the customer service number is a joke. After waiting in the call waiting queue for 55+ minutes on two separate occasions, I spoke with representatives (first on Jun 29th and again on Jul 6th) who said that the warranty department would contact me soon to help resolve the problem. I finally received an email from a Hayward Case Management Specialist on Jul 8th telling me that he placed an order to have a new switch sent to me to replace the faulty sensor (Case # 00162719). After waiting another 2-weeks, I opened a customer review on the Hayward website noting my problem in securing a replacement flow sensor via their warranty program -- only to have this review rejected as it didn't review the product but highlighted deficiencies in the company's warranty program. How the hell can I review and provide feedback on the product's use when it won't work because a a broken switch sensor during shipment. I've sent two additional emails asking for status on my open warranty claim...nothing but cricket noises while I sit waiting for Hawyard to respond. As of this review on Jul 30th, no replacement switch received to date. So, the $900 saltwater chlorine generator I purchased on Jun 21 still sits useless while I wait for Hayward to get around to sending me a replacement switch. Don't waste your money on any Hayward electronic equipment since their warranty program is worthless and their customer service is non-existent. ... show more

    • Main Board Failure at 14 Months.

The system worked flawlessly for 14 months. 2 months after the warranty expires, the main board failed. $400 to purchase a new main board. I would highly suggest not plugging your pump into the out-source plug at the bottom of the unit, it creates too much heat inside the enclosure. The transformer inside runs 24/7. It is wise to run a separate timer box (at least 30 amp, runs cooler) to run both the chlorine generator and the pool pump on the same circuit. Also, do not exceed 3200 ppm salt saturation, it causes the cell to draw to many amps and again, it will create too much heat in the enclosure and burn up the electronics. The manufacturer doesn't tell you this, so you have to buy parts or a new system again. These simple tips will save you a lot of cash in repair costs. ... show more

Quit working after 6 weeks. The Hayward website lists local dealer/repair shops based on your zip code, but they only service what they sell. IF you are lucky enough to find a dealer to service the unit under warranty, know that the Hayward Warranty is 2 years for Parts, but NO LABOR WARRANTY. So you will pay to have it repaired under warranty if you can even find someone authorized to do the work. THAT ISN'T MUCH OF A WARRANTY. ... show more

I was told that the unit would be delivered on Wednesday 6-8-22, than 6-9, finally it was delivered on Friday 6-10. I read the instructions and examined the parts late Friday evening and found that the flow switch was damaged. I am afraid to send it back for a replacement because it is possible that the item is no longer available. I will try to call Hayward on Monday to replace the damaged part. Today I noticed that the unit is bent at one corner and the cardboard used to stabilize it is damaged. ... show more
