Description

From the Manufacturer Goldline AQ-TROL-RJ, Aqua Trol Above-Ground Chlorinator Return Jet Fitting, Straight Blade, Line Cord and Outlet. The Aqua Trol Electronic Chlorine Generator (also known as a salt chlorinator) is designed specifically for Above-Ground pools up to 18,000-Gallon. The Aqua Trol has all the same functions and features of the Aqua Rite but with a lower chlorine output. The Aqua Trol also has an integral time clock for control of the pool filtration pump. Since many Above-Ground pools already have a single electrical outlet for the filter pump, the Aqua Trol is designed with an outlet (timer controlled LED.) for the filter pump to plug into, the Aqua Trol then plugs into the original outlet the filter pump was using. The savings on chlorine and electrical power alone (if the pump was previously running 24 hours), will have the Aqua Trol paying for itself in just a few short years. The Aqua Trol system typically installs in less than 30 minutes and is very easy to operate. This model is equipped with a return jet fitting, featuring a "straight blade" line cord and outlet.

  • Great Product!
Finished my first season with the Aquatrol - I have the above ground RJ model... oval aboveground pool with about 17,000 gallons. The Aquatrol works great! Takes away the need for me to be a chemist - this system is really easy to use. The water is gentle - you can swim with no bleaching of clothes - kids never complain about stinging eyes. You can actually swim underwater with eyes open - salinity of water is milder than tears - chlorine content is difficult to notice other than the water stays crystal clear all summer long! Unit is well made - holds up well to the elements. System is automatic - just set the timer and let it go. Monitor the salt-level on the control box - if reading low you simply add a bag or two (40 lbs each) to bring the saline content up to the point that the device needs. I usually keep a bag or two on hand to make up for dilution due to rain. Just dump the salt in the pool - couldn't be easier. Salt is cheap - you will save enough money on the chemicals for your pool to pay for this gizmo in no time. Only downside is that pool/filter manufacturers are still "funny" about salt-water chlorinators. They warn about pool/filter warranty being voided if you use these systems. My pool supply guys warned me about warranty - personally I don't know who salt water can be any more corrosive than chlorinated water. I have a Doughboy pool - and if I have a warranty related issue I know that will be an issue. Not worried though - the system is so gentle - works over time to get chlorine to the perfect level. Even with the warranty issues - would still HIGHLY recommend this product. ... show more

  • works great !
I was a little uneasy about ordering this to start. The salt water system is all new to me. we spent over five hundred dollars on chemicals last year. So I thought we would give it a try. It was pretty easy to install. I have a 24 ft above ground pool. I added 4 ,forty pound bags of salt to the pool, and let it circulate in the pool before cutting on. The light on the display kept staying on, saying that something was wrong with the cell. I thought I got a bad cell , so I went to you tube and it said you have to have a certain amount of salt in the pool ,so I added 4 more bags. I let the pool circulate about a day before I cut on the salt system. The cell warning light went out. It's been about three weeks since we put it in ,and the water has been crystal clear. That's the first time since we have had the pool that the water has stayed that clear. I haven't had to add any chemicals since we installed the system ,so I would highly recommend this product, especially if your tired of maintaining your pool and adding chemicals. ... show more

  • Great product, best price
This is the best price I could find for this above ground salt chlorinato. It is easy to install. Just be sure you put valves on either side of it or have a way to shut the water flow to it off so you can remove the cell for cleaning when you design your plumbing set up. I am using the return jet model and replace my return jet in the pool with a screw in cap I bought at Leslie's for $4.70 and have a gate valve coming out of the filter on the other side. Otherwise cleaning the cell would be a big problem. My pool is 15000 gal, 24'ft round. I put 400 lbs salt, set the chlorinators on 100% and had 3ppm the next day. That night I turned it down to 50% and it still pushed it to 4-5ppm. So tonight I dropped it to 20% production. Granted it isn't hot yet but that's a good sign it'll produce plenty of chlorine in the hot summer. ... show more

  • A Review for the Clueless
If you feel as clueless as I did when I bought this, this is the review for you. I've given it 5 stars even though everything isn't quite as it should be yet, because I think once it is, I'm going to love it! I have an above ground 24' x 4' pool. I was hesitant to switch from chlorine to salt, just because I've had so many headaches with my pool, that adding on another machine seemed daunting. More parts means, more places to leak or malfunction. Last year we got a new pool installed by professionals, but they hooked my filter up wrong (switched the hoses around) and busted my filter. That was at least $150 to fix plus the time and aggravation of it all. This unit sat in a box for a couple of weeks and I got stressed out every time I looked at it, thinking of all that could go wrong. Do I sound like a pool owner yet? Anyway, a few days ago my husband and I finally took it out of the box and hooked everything up. We had everything we needed, but I read the instructions and it says to put 1 qt of metal remover and 1 qt of metal-free algae remover in to balance the water chemistry, plus I figured out how much salt we needed and got that. So I went to the pool store and got those and put those 3 things in but nothing else. As I feared, there were leaks around the cell, but we fixed them by lining the inside of the PVC with silicone. I recommend having the silicone handy because it works wonders with leaks! We probably had it going in about an hour, but there were two of us working and we were also hooking the pump and filter up because we were just opening the pool, so some of that time was for the regular opening stuff. It really isn't too bad to hook up. I ran it with the generator OFF for 24 hours, like it says, then turned it on. Checked the water and no chlorine. I saw my stabilizer was low and I had some of that cyanuric acid to put in so I did. Still no chlorine. I started getting nervous that it wasn't working and called Hayward. They were very good and helpful. She took me through a series of tests and determined that my unit was working fine, that it's probably my water chemistry. She suspected phosphates or nitrates. I took a water sample to my local pool store, which you should do from the get go, and sure enough, my phosphates are through the roof! She said to put 2 pounds of shock to break up the phosphates and gave me some phosphate remover. I'll update this review when I have more info. I just want to put this out there for people who feel overwhelmed by it all. You're not alone! ... show more
