This kit has pretty much all you need as a beginner to learn and actually try out. The best part is that it's not corded. It's completely wireless. However, the battery only lasts about 3 hours. So, plan your sessions accordingly. Also, it's very lightweight. It's also not very loud. This is because it's not as powerful as the professional ones. You need to apply more pressure for a decent job. As for the functionality, it's very consistent. There are no interruptions or changes in vibrations once you select the modes. You also get 7 colors of tattoo ink. They are ok quality. I think black is probably the safest to use. The others are not very true to their colors. You of course would want paper towels, extra stuff like that as well. The pen is very nice and has good power but the battery that goes into the end does make it a little top heavy when trying to do fine detail work where you need a good steady hand. The ink is a little bit cheap quality and doesn't absorb very well. Two pieces I've done, I've had to go back over it again a second time to really make the color stand out. This is a great kit. It's nice it came with all the stuff. I really enjoy the case that it came in as well. The machine itself is fantastic. I've used it a lot practicing on the skin and it's really nice for that. It also works for real on skin too very well. The battery doesn't last super long so it's nice you get a second one to have it ready. I would not necessarily use these inks on real skin but that's okay. This is a decent kit for a beginner to try things out. I would not use this kit to tattoo a persons skin. It can of course be used for an actual tattoo but I don’t think it would come out very well with the provided ink. I wanted to try my hand at tattooing. Have some practice skins and went to town. Everything you need to start is in this box. You are only limited by your own skill. I stink at it but it is fun and I have a huge respect for the artist out there that do this for a living.

I like how easy it is to hold the machine while tattooing. The original machines are bulky and heavy but this is like a pen: easy to hold and lightweight. They give a few of each types of needles (single needles for lining and then a collection of needles bunched together for shading) which was cool so I could test them out on the practice skin but still had some to test on my own skin (my leg). I don’t often read instructions right away and in true fashion, I didn’t read the small booklet they gave me, so when I assembled the needle, machine, and battery, the battery swiveled on the machine and depending on how I moved my hand the machine would stop. I read the instructions and found out you have to push the battery in pretty good so it doesn’t swivel. The ink looks bright on my leg, but it hasn’t healed completely. The case broke after I opened it one of two times, but I would’ve gotten another case for it all anyway. The kit definitely comes with everything you’d need to get started, so it worked well! I will likely order different inks though, because I want a lot of colors! Overall this is a nice product and I would recommend it. ... show more

This kit comes with everything you need to get started. 2 wireless batteries makes it so much more convenient, along with the carrying case. As long as you keep one battery charged at all times it will be an easy swap out if one ever dies during sessions. The batteries hold a good charge and haven’t died completely on me yet. I’ve used them for about 5 hrs running at 7.5V without charging. The machine is a nice size with a flared tip for a better grip while tattooing. Changing needle depth is very smooth as this machine clicks when you change it. Overall this is a nice starter kit for anyone wanting to practice. ... show more

    • This isn't the right fit for my household
I don't like this machine at all. The kit had the best fake skin I have ever gotten in a package deal like this, but that was the only good thing in this kit, besides having more practice ink. The needles aren't that great of quality when it comes to the shaders. I don't like those either. I would not recommend this for any kind of beginner. This pen and battery top are so heavy your hand becomes tired fast. I have larger hands for a woman when it comes to length of my fingers and it wasn't the easiest to wrap my hand around this pen. The style is way too bulky and I hate it. My boyfriend who also tattoos who has large hands for a man had a hard time holding on to it. The weight from the battery top is just such poor quality as well. Also, the needle does not go back into the casing every time you turn the machine off. A good machine will make the needle retract as a safety measure. ... show more
