This is not a cheap step ladder by any means, but our has to sit out in plain sight in the kitchen so I wanted something attractive. It's perfect for quickly grabbing to reach a high shelf. The design is pretty genius - very sturdy, and large platform on the top. Not super light but easy to carry around. I love the looks of this step ladder, and it is very secure. My reason for giving it 4 * rather than 5 is because the first step is very narrow, so I don’t feel as secure as I would hope. I understand the mechanics of why the step is so narrow...in order to maintain the silhouette, but I think it’s something you have to get used to because it absolutely is sturdy. The top step, of course, is twice the width, so it feels very secure. I’m sure that after having if for a while, the feeling of the step being narrow will pass. ... show more

We needed a step ladder for high shelves and cupboards, but wanted something that could be a display piece at the same time, and the Hasegawa Lucano step ladder is it. In fact it looks so good that we've parked it in the living room next to a sofa, so it can double as a stool to sit on, or as a drinks table, when not needed as a step ladder. I have several of these ladders in different heights. I have no way to hide a ladder in my cabin, and this is so attractive when folded. (I have the black one in my cabin.) I really love this silly little stool. It's nice enough that you don't need to hide it. Somewhat on the heavier side but it folds away fairly compactly and it balances nicely when folded.
