I loooove this step stool! It’s lightweight but sturdy, with good gripping surfaces so I feel secure when standing on it, and it doesn’t wobble at all. It gives me just enough height to help me reach the top cabinets and other things — much better than hopping, or climbing on the counters! This step stool exceeded expectations. It is so compact and thin when folded, able to be stored in small spaces. Our home lacks storage, but this step ladder slid right into a small crack between our refrigerator and wall. A perfect location for reaching into high cabinets! It is very sturdy and feels safe to stand on, even while shifting your weight. A lever must be pulled to close the step stool once it is opened, adding another layer of security when in use. The material is a heavy metal, which contributes to the sturdiness. That being said, it is heavier than expected, making it a little more difficult than anticipated to move around the house quickly and easily. I expect that this product will last a long time. This stepladder was just what I wanted: heavy duty, easy to use, perfect size for getting up into high cupboards and very stable. I especially appreciate being able to reach down and grab the bar if I get a little dizzy. I'm 78 so that feature is a real necessity since I suffer a little from vertigo. I replaced an old step stool with this one. This is like 100% nicer than what I had before. EXTREMELY sturdy when you have to climb on and doesn't move an inch when using it. The only negative (and it's not really a negative) is that it's a bit larger then what I use to have so I had to move the location where I was storing it. This feels very sturdy and folds nicely. The colors are clean. My only complaint is that the glue dots put on the top under the Rubbermaid paper label are so tenacious that some remains stuck to the step and immediately made the item look dirty and caused a stickiness under my shoes. It is so frustrating for a brand new item to be marred like this for no reason. So it loses a star for this. ... show more

I’ve owned my fair share of foot stools. I purchased the Rubbermaid to replace another brand that failed while I was standing on it. Most reviewers say this is a very nice foot stool. I agree. Some reviewers negatively commented on the latch being loose. See attached photo 2. I put on my engineering hat and decided this is by design and is a safety feature. When the stool is in use the latch hangs loose about 1/8 inch away from the cross bar. If for whatever reason the foot stool will start to fold while you are standing it the latch will engage the cross bar and prevent it from folding. The weight on the top step is supported by the cross bar. The failed stool that I replaced had a latch that looked similar and was tight, but the integrity of the stool depended entirely on the latch. Unknown to me the latch had become misaligned and the stool collapsed while I was standing on it. A couple of curse words and the trash can took care of this one. A nice feature of the Rubbermaid is the height of the “handle” which could aid in keeping your balance if the stool is not in front of a wall or cabinet. An example is changing a light bulb in the middle of a room This Rubbermaid step stool appears to be constructed decently and should last a reasonable amount of time. Keep in mind like any other foot stool for household use it is just that. If you need something for daily heavy duty use then buy a quality ladder. ... show more

I'm short...super short. And everything in my world is so bloody high up. Frustrating. Plus I'm terrified of heights. I saw the reviews for this product and saw that it was made my one of my favorite brands so I had to get it! I got the 2 stepper. I figured I'd graduate to the grown up step stool after I got brave enough to stand on the second step. I feel almost unafraid standing on this! It's kind of heavy, which I'm glad for. I don't want to stand on anything that feels flimsy. I love that it folds flat and has the gripper feet. Solid set of steps that will last years. I'm definately getting the 3 stepper with folding tray next. We'll be using these all over the house! ETA: I loved my 2 stepper so much, that I went back for the 3 stepper with the folding tray. Oh my gosh, the quality can't be beat! You're going to want to have one of these. I can now reach the tippy top cabinets in my kitchen! No more scary counter climbing! ... show more

I finally replaced a really old, cranky foldable step stool with this and I can't believe the difference. There are so many things that Rubbermaid got right on this one. It stores easily and is very sturdy. It is ridiculously simple to press a small tab on the top step as you bring it in to fold. So smooth. It's very easy to carry around. When it's open, that strong handle on top makes it much safer to go from bottom to top step with full balance control. The steps are a good size for firm footing. After I used it a few times, I knew I'd have to write a review. I don't know how the other step stools operate, but I can definitely say this one is a winner. ... show more
