I really like the shape of this light. My 11 year old wanted a “Harry Potter desk” and a light for it. This fits the bill perfectly! It comes in a nice Harry Potter box, but the light itself is very light and cheap feeling. It’s made of all plastic. The dome came scratched from rubbing on the box lid. I’m pretty sure the next one would come like that as well so I’m choosing to ignore it. I don’t think my daughter will notice it. I love that you just tap the dome to turn it off and on. I think it’s going to look great on her new desk. From a distance you can’t tell it’s plastic. And probably better it is since it’s going in a kids room. The media could not be loaded. This much-anticipated gift for my daughter arrived broken and broke her heart. The wings on the Snitch are very thin plastic and the ball joints that hold it to the sphere are weak. Would not the engineers investing in a 1/2 gram of extra plastic been worth it? A wing is obviously going to have some wiggle to it when shipped, and this item did not survive the stress test. Keep in mind, this was sent internationally, and it endured extra handling and bouncing. However, if it cannot survive the journey, then maybe there is something wrong when the box and clear plastic casing is not visibly damaged but the contents inside are. I would most likely wind up paying 3x times the shipping costs to return it and that's not worth it to me. A $2 bottle of super glue is the cheapest option. It's not the end of the world, we'll glue it the best we can, this company has other fun and interesting Harry Potter products we like, but I'm not sure I'd be willing to risk another purchase as of right now. If you want to repurpose it, take out the snitch, put in a plastic rose such as from the movie Beauty and the Beast, and with some help, you can cut and solder in a few Christmas tree lights to make it glow or twinkle. I think this is a fair review of what we received vs. the price we paid for it. ... show more
