So, I bought these to go on top of my fence and lift my string lights above head height in two areas were the lights go across a walkway. They do this, but barely. They are actually the height that is advertised, because the listing does have a picture with the actual dimensions, but the other pictures in the listing are not really to scale and give the impression they will be bigger than they actually are. That is really my fault for not paying attention to the details, but still I wish they had better pictures of the actual item in use.     • Good Light Poles
Solid light poles that are coated, hopefully to withstand the elements. Comes with all the screws/anchors that you. need to attach to wood or siding or whatever you want. However, you can also use your own anchors if your conditions warrant. Poles provide about a foot of length, so you can 'raise' your string lights up a foot above your attachment point. Not a lot of room, so these might be better if you're just going around a fence line and raising using it to provide lighting. This particular pole comes with a spring-type carabiner. I have other poles that have a screw-type carabiner. Both have plus/minus with them, so I can't tell which is better. Spring-type is easier to open/close, but seems less secure. However, the screw-type needs to line up just right or it won't screw properly. It's all preference at that point. ... show more

    • Sturdy metal uprights for hanging string lights on a wood fence
These are a solid product that come with all the needed hardware to secure to a wood post fence. They allow string lights to be strung about a foot above the fence with the light string clipping into a small clip on a coated square metal pole. I did find the clips just slightly too small for the standard string light set that I have, but managed to make them work. They are solid metal paint coated black and look to be long lasting.     • Simple and Effective
Poles come ready to use with all basic hardware. Comes with Screws and anchors, so if you're attaching to a wall or fence it should come with everything you need. You can also use U brackets to attached to a pole/post, which is what I did. Bought some U brackets and secured to fence posts, ran garden string bulb lights along fencing. These posts have a carabiner clip at the top to secure lights or whatever you thread through them. Latching of clips seems a bit weak, but should stay closed during most normal weather. Length gave good height for my lights. Painted black, look stylishly simple and seem durable. Could hang other things from the clips perhaps a flower pot but I'm not sure how much weight the clip can hold. As of the date of this post Ive only had the product installed for 3 days, so comment on durability and sturdiness are my estimations at this time. So far, I would buy again. ... show more

    • kinda tuff for there size
I was surprised how tuff these little buggers are. we had a typical fall wind storm out by us and while the flagpole was blown over, these supports stood strong, I was watching the little flags I had strung on the cable between them and they were standing out straight, I swore that they would blow the supports of the post I had them mounted to, but to my surprise they stood strong. ... show more

    • Would be useful on a taller fence
I got these to support a photo booth backdrop for a birthday party. Our fence is only about 4ft tall so these poles only extended the height by about 18" which was not enough. In the right setting these would be great.

    • Good design and nice look, with one small exception
These are well made and nicely packaged. They are what the description states them as. They use a small carabiner welded near the top of the post to hold the string of lights. At first I didn't like this design, as it seemed like it didn't fit the aesthetic of the simple clean style, however I've come to appreciate the functionality of it because it makes stringing the lights up very easy, and it isn't just a hook that might end up allowing the lights to swing off in strong wind (and I live in a pretty windy place). I still think they could have come up with a solution other than a carabiner that would look better but functioned simpler, hence the four stars. ... show more

    • Sturdy poles, but included screws should be longer
These poles are nice and sturdy, very thick metal, absolutely no way they will bend or break. Will have no trouble supporting string lights with these. Looks quite nice on the fence. Only thing I would change is the included screws. They are way too short and will end up coming loose after not too long. I used my own 2-inch screws to secure these poles and I expect it to last for several years. ... show more
