I have really enjoyed using this expresso machine with milk frother. It almost feels like ordering a cup of coffee at your local coffee shop. The experience is also quite unique as it is all very manual. This is my point of view from using pod expresso machines. I have both coffee machines of the popular brands for home brewing cappuccinos and expressos. There is some cleaning up after you set everything up. The plastic tamper device leaves so much to wish for it is disappointing. But the end result is awesome! I used the milk frother and it makes a lot of froth. Again, there is some cleaning after using the frother device. So, if you are making cappuccinos or expressos, you will be very happy with the taste and I found the experience to be relaxing. The expresso machine has a gauge which is nice because it tells you how much pressure it has/generates. This is what makes that pretty foam over your coffee and the milk so fluffy. Since, I own other machines I have cups for the different types of coffee but you might need to purchase a small pitcher for coffee and for frothing milk. ... show more

This espresso machine is very solid. You can tell it's good quality right out of the box. The instructions were very helpful and straightforward. Here are a few things we've found after using it for about a month: - Getting a metal tamper will make your life a lot easier! This machine comes with a plastic one which honestly does not do a great job and feels a bit flimsy. - It doesn't hurt to buy one or two frothing pitchers. - Most mugs will not fit as the spot for the mug is espresso-sized (short). You may need espresso glasses or smaller mugs. - Any finely ground coffee works but darker roasts are better for espressos. That being said, you do not need to spend hrs trying to find a blend that says "espresso" on the package. Any dark roast will do. - Remember to clean the frothing wand after each use. Occasionally clean the drain tray/cover area and under it as well or mold will form. - Enjoy your espresso! This machine makes excellent espresso. It's perfect for two people! It's relatively easy to use once you get the hang of it, and it works pretty fast. Have fun with syrups and whipped cream. Be happy. Overall, great machine that will probably last a long time. 10/10 for quality. ... show more

DESIGN This espresso machine has a sleek and retro design, with a black frame and stainless front that should complement most kitchen decors. EASE OF USE This was my first time using an espresso machine and I found it mostly easy to use. I appreciate the labeling and straightforward instructions. The slide and lock portafilter system does simplify the brewing process and is smooth and easy to operate. MILK FROTHING The steam wand is intuitive to operate for frothing milk but as I am new to this it is taking me some time to get it right. I did need to get a frothing pitcher. OVERVIEW I have had some difficulties with inconsistencies in my shot extraction and achieving a proper grind/tamp but I think this was partly due to being a beginner. I may need to get a metal tamper as suggested in some of the other reviews. Also of note, I had to purchase espresso glasses since regular coffee cups don’t fit under this machine. ... show more

Takes a bit to get the hang of, but it's well-made. You get good bang for the buck. The instructions are detailed and easy to follow. You get multiple needed pieces, ALMOST all you need to make espresso. IMPORTANT NOTE: IT DOES NOT INCLUDE A FROTHING PITCHER. There may well be good reason for this as some people have different likes, but this means it doesn't include a basic piece of equipment right out of the box. I had to contact the company to confirm it wasn't included as it just wasn't clear from the otherwise detailed instructions. Maybe it's always an extra buy, but since a large reason you BUY a machine like this is for the froth ... I think that you NEED to buy a pitcher should be noted. ... show more

I was a little intimidated when I ordered this espresso machine because it *looks* a little complication. But setting up the Hamilton Beach Slide & Lock Espresso Machine was surprisingly straightforward. The instructions were clear and easy to follow, allowing me to get it up and running quickly, without any fuss. The machine itself is fantastic asset for creating café-quality lattes at home. The espresso extracted is consistently rich and full of flavor, forming a perfect base for a variety of coffee drinks. The frother, in particular, deserves praise for its ability to produce finely textured milk foam. I used Cafe Bustello ground espresso and it tastes as good as what you get from expensive coffee shops. What sets this espresso machine apart, besides its ease of use and excellent coffee quality, is its sleek design that fits well in any kitchen.
