This toaster works great; the slots are large enough for bagel halves. You just need to remember when selecting bagel, the heating elements are on the outer side. I also love the cancel button, so I no longer have to unplug the toaster to make it stop.

    • Hamilton Beach Toaster is amazing!!!
Used the toaster this morning. It toasted perfectly! I like the fact that the slots are wider and longer to accommodate for bagels and larger bread. This will last us a long time. Our other toaster was a gift and already been used a long time. It lasted us another 5 or 6 years. AMAZING!!!

    • Great Toaster
For the money and the extra length in the toaster-slot this is a great toaster. It is not the quickest to toast but it toasts very evenly, and when you push the lever down it depresses easily, and feels well made.

The toaster works fine. Darkness of bread or bagels is consistent for any given setting, which is why we replaced our old toaster. The only reason I don't give it 5 stars is the cord. It is 5 inches shorter than our old toaster, and that has complicated fitting it in with other appliances on our crowded countertop. ... show more

I haven't had this very long so I can't speak to durability, but so far this may be my perfect toaster. It toasts BOTH SIDES OF THE BREAD which is a feature I've looked for a long time. I need longer slots because I only toast rye bread. This has both longer slots and wider slots so I may start toasting bagels. Toasting on both sides, longer slots and wider slots is such a perfect combination of features for me. I hadn't found this combination in the past so if it lasts a reasonable period of time, I'll have found the perfect toaster. ... show more

I am so happy with this toaster , and from a brand name I call spell and has a long reputation for quality. It has become very difficult to find well made and reliable small appliances, I went through three cheaper nes before lucking onto this little gem . No fancy stuff (that I don't need ) but all the good qualities I do need...lightweight, well made, toasts evenly, fits my longer rye bread, toasts quickly and pops toast up high enough to easily pick out. I think this toaster is a winner! So far the best thing is it toasts evenly. I was pressing the one slice button before pushing the lever down and figured out later you need to push it after lowering the bread. I'm not sure that was clear in the directions. I was able to fully toast a long slice of rye bread in the longer slots which is also a plus! ... show more

I was looking for a toaster that has 4 heating elements - 1 for each side of each piece for even browning. It is hard to tell from photos and descriptions. Even going to a physical store is not conclusive as the boxes omit this key bit of info & there are typically no display models. Something led me to believe this one does indeed have 4 elements so I took a chance. Boom! Sure enough it does. The result is even toasting, which is all I ever wanted.
