If I could give negative stars I would.We have gotten this coffee maker several times, even though after about a year it leaks terribly, but I'm handicapped and I'm able to get my own coffee but this one turns off half way thru brewing so we have to turn it off then back on so it can finish, I have contacted customer service at Hamilton Beach but no one has contacted me back, so we have to get a regular coffee maker with a pot so other household members can enjoy coffee but now my independence is taken away. Very Disappointing. ***UPDATE*** Hamilton Beach has contacted me and the issue is being taken care of. Very Pleased!

We used this brand of coffee pot while on vacation. We ordered it and absolutely LOVE it! It is simple to use, fits our counter space perfectly, it brews quickly, and keeps the coffee hot! We love the dispenser rather than a carafe like we had before. It has an iced coffee setting, and I look forward to trying that! This is by far the best coffee maker we have ever had. Really recommend it!

Great brew station but fatal flaws

The Hamilton Beach Brew Station is my all-time favorite coffee machine. We have purchased four of them to date after trying a cuisine art unit that routinely leaked all over the counter. None of the four Hamilton Beach units ever leaked. The controls are easy to use, and the unit makes exactly the coffee we enjoy. We do occasionally clean the metal filter at the bottom of the Coffee Tank by pouring some “clean that pot” liquid and following the instructions – does a nice job. We also use filtered water along with both a metal filter and a paper filter in the Filter Basket for very consistent taste. Excellent job Hamilton Beach. Hamilton Beach Engineers get your act together: Unfortunately, there is a flaw in the design that causes unimaginable frustration and very limited product life of maybe a year. The flaw ruined the first three Brew Stations that we bought. We discovered that the Coffee Dispenser Bar would no longer release coffee from the Coffee Tank (see A in Frame 1 of the figure). Pushing that Bar should force the plastic Lever B (in Frame 2) toward the front of the unit. One can see, by tipping the Coffee Tank backward, the plastic Coffee Release Valve C (in Frame 3); the valve has a very stiff spring to prevent coffee from accidently dripping out. At first, it seems the lever B fails by no longer making contact with the valve but placing a pad between B and C does not help and eventually Lever B breaks away. We found that Lever B is quite flexible in a failed unit compared with a new unit. This means Lever B in a failed unit does not have the rigidity to open the Valve C to release the coffee. Moral of the Story: Hamilton Beach, please consider making the Lever B and associated components out of metal. A couple of events might be occurring (or both). First repeated pressure on the Lever B might fatigue the plastic. Second, the Lever B is next to the high temperature heating element and high temperature is well known to deteriorate the strength of plastic. After all these years, this defect cannot be a surprise to the company. Perhaps replacement parts are available. We only finally figured out the problem when we were in a position to compare failed and new units. Finally, we plan on returning the new unit that arrived today because the Lid hinge was apparently damaged during shipping – the plastic protrusion forming a hinge was broken off – the Lid flaps around. But again, we absolutely love the Hamilton Beach Brew Station but definitely not the nasty flaws. Update: Engineering and quality control departments need massive downsizing: The new Brew Station leaked all over the counter. First one with this flaw out of the 5 we tried. Surprising the Hamilton Beach lawyers don't start to worry.

This pot does not leak anymore

Great ! Love this pot. I had given it bad review because it leaked water. Decided to buy again because reviews stopped saying that it leaked. The new one I just got doesn’t! I love this pot. Have been buying them for 20 years. So glad they fixed the leak!

Well Thought-out Coffeemaker

We've had this coffee pot several months and I love love love it! I seldom write reviews, but I don't want others to be put off by the fact that this pot is a little unusual in the way it "pours". It turns out it is very handy - no carafe involved. And the designs of the pieces are so sensible! There are little grab places in all the right spots. The inner coffee container is easy to deal with. If there is one negative I could say about it it is very minor. The basket that holds the filter paper and grounds has quite a bit of condensation on it when I emove it to rinse it out, so there are some drips. Just tapping it on the pot before removing it takes care of it. I just read the one star reviews this pot has received. It ours lasts a few years, we'll be very happy. How can anyone expect a product used daily to last 6+ years!?

UPDATE: May 17, 2016 After ~8 months of daily use, we've discovered that somewhere along the design chain something was either overlooked or ignored. As I said in my first review, there's a lot to love about the redesign of this unit. But something's not right. About 6 months in, the reservoir that holds the brewed coffee began to leak. I contacted HB and was told I had to pay $5.99 shipping and they would send a replacement. Fine. The new reservoir works fine. No leaks since. At least no brewed coffee leaks. (BTW, turns out, bleach is the culprit for that. Simply put, DON'T use bleach at all, to remove coffee residue inside the filter rack or the hot beverage reservoir. Not even just a tiny amount. But for the next issue, almost from the start, we started noticing a large amount of condensation on the lid that covers the coffee filter assembly. Since there's nowhere for the water to really go, it just pools into the two channels on either side of the hotplate underneath the coffee reservoir (Photos A & C). There are only two ways to remove that water. 1) Take the BrewStation apart, flip it over & dump out the water, or 2) much more simply, use a turkey baster to suction out the water. Repeat at least every other day because there's up to 1/2 cup of condensation created every day (B). If you don't get rid of the excess water, one fine morning, you'll be greeted by a thin layer of water all over your counter. This problem was completely absent in the first unit we purchased. Other than this nuisance, the Brewstation is a great alternative for keeping coffee hot without burning it as do traditional coffee makers. As I mentioned in my original post, this design is convenient for those confined to wheelchairs to be able to get their own coffee themselves. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Our first Brewstation lasted about 6 years, so buying another didn't require much thought. Consumer Reports pooh-poohed this line because its brewing temperature is about 10° higher than the "optimal" 185°, but I don't really care. We live & care for my wife's invalid mother, who is confined to a wheelchair. Since there's no decanter, she can get her own coffee easily by herself. Plus, because of the machine's unique design, the coffee will hold for the full four hours without tasting like the gear oil from a poorly maintained, 1967 model dump truck. Versus the old model, I love the removable water reservoir and the light on the display is much brighter. While we seldom make iced coffee on purpose, it's nice that the feature is built in. Also, this one is about$15 cheaper than the original we bought in 2009. My only negative is that the front panel of the coffee reservoir gets *extremely* ' HOT! Ordinarily, it's not a problem. But if, for example, you're cleaning the machine and run consecutive brew cycles, the "chrome" plate on the front, even though it's plastic, will scorch your bare skin. You've been warned! Otherwise, this coffee maker is a winner! Hamilton Beach knocked this one out of the park.

Hamilton Beach Coffee Maker

I love this coffee maker! This is my 5th or 6th of the same coffee maker. I've tried others in between - some are nice, however, with arthritis, this is so much easier on my hands! I don't have to lift the entire pot. With this one, all I have to lift is my cup! I get it ready the night before and when I wake up the next day, I have fresh, hot coffee waiting for me! If I use it during the day, it's fast, I can sneak a cup before it finishes brewing. I set the timer for how many hours I want it to stay hot and it turns off automatically. I can't say enough good things about this coffee maker.
