I have to admit that I love these. I've had mine now a couple of weeks and I am having a hard time resisting adding a different color to my hair each day. I have very dark hair that normally requires bleaching to color, and my hair isn't currently bleached. These colors show up nicely. They are bright but not electric (except in the sunlight). The website says they are cruelty-free, too, so yay for fun guilt-free colors! I will admit that it took me a couple of tries to get this to work, especially in my daughter's long hair. My inclination was to read the instructions and then lather this on and brush it out, but that didn't work out at all. So I want to advise, because I see there are some negative reviews where people are having the same problems that I had at first, but I was able to find ways to make it work without being thick, sticky, waxy, or caked on. First, although the instructions say to apply to wet hair, I have had a lot better luck applying this dry. Second, it says to start at the roots and work toward the ends. This is what I do with my short hair, but with long hair, I found applying at the ends and slowly moving up to work best. I work with small chunks at a time, and put the rest of the hair up in a clip so that it doesn't get in the way. Third, it says to put a dime-size on the palm of your hand, rub it in to your hands, and then apply. YOU REALLY WANT TO USE THIS LITTLE (or at quarter-size at the very most, but a thin quarter, not a thick one). It may seem, especially if you have dark hair, that the color is far to light when you apply such a small amount, but the best way to get a nice rich color is not to cake it on but to create layers. Put a little bit on, then a little more, then a little more, etc. Yes, it takes longer, but you'll actually get soft colored hair instead of waxy caked hair. You also need a brush with the bristles pretty close together. I have been using my daughter's detangler brush (http://a.co/4qBZvQz) and it works great! My hair is not as soft as normal, but it feels like I have a little bit of hairspray in it, not like it's full of gel or wax. I hope this helps you use this product. Now, there are a couple of cons. The first one is that this stuff smells like men's cologne. It's not an unpleasant smell, but it's not subtle. Since I bought this hair wax for myself and my daughter, the smell overrides the more subtle fragrances we wear. I wish the smell was less overbearing and less masculine. The second issue is that the "red" color is really more of a magenta. For us it's not really a big deal. My daughter likes the "pink" color, although I had been hoping for the flame red that appears in the pictures. This is something you should know before buying the pack, just because it isn't as pictured. Overall, I am extremely happy with my purchase. This was easy to work with and worked well on a (very cheap) synthetic wig. Moreso for color than any styling hold. But being in the same room with it is like gargling cheap teenage boy "body spray" cologne. It is HEAVILY perfumed. My girls really loved the outcome. The color is vibrant enough on their dark hair to be seen and especially in natural or bright lighting. Anyways it was easy to apply but a little messy. I think it could be in a pump bottle or squeeze bottle to avoid mess and getting too much ... so I learned it's best to apply it on almost dry kinda still damp well moisturized hair, you can blow dry but don't use the comb attachment cuz it will get sticky and pull at your hair, also the blow dryer will make the color a little less vibrant, rub it in good if you do a twist out or braid out - get as much of the excess that squeezes out/off because it will flake when dry. It's super easy to clean, just need water, maybe a little soap if it dried or a soak in hot warer. It is a good value for the money but I didn't read the ingredients before buying and there are a lot that bother me in there so I probably will not buy again. ... show more
