While this seemed like a decent cage for my guinea pigs, it is not. While putting it together we noticed things were not that sturdy and that the boards for the tiers are not straight and flat. They actually have a curve to them. The wood is softwood and where one of the screws was meant to go in there was a knot in the wood which caused the wood to then crack. Also when you line everything up together it is not lined up properly. Our guinea pigs have chewed on it which is what they do and because it is such a soft wood they are able to chew on it and it now has marks all over it. I do not blame my guinea pigs for doing something that they naturally do. This product has a poor design to it and the appearance is that they just slapped this bluish grey paint on it, which was not done well because it is almost see-through in some spots and is also missing in other spots. Overall I am satisfied with the purchase but a little disappointed in the state that it arrived in. My husband and I spent added time using glue to reassemble pieces of the wood that had broken off. The edge protector still isn’t in the best shape but there wasn’t much we could do. The top locking system came screwed in very off centered so it is not aligned with the locking system on the bottom by about a half an inch. If I’m being honest, if I didn’t need the cage in order to have Nibbles in my classroom… I would have returned it rather than worked so hard to make it a suitable cage. Within the first day Nibbles (true to his name) had one of the hideouts chewed away at the back. This is parent because it’s in his nature but looking at the wood that was used in kind of upset in the quality. The chew toy accessory is made of a more dense wood than the hideout is. Also it seems an oversight that there is such a big gap between the tray and the cage. Nibbles prefers to potty in one corner of his cages and it builds up after only two days. With the gap, the fecal matter is able to fall through and in a classroom that’s a huge safety hazard. I’m having to monitor the gap daily to ensure nothing has spilled out. The up side is that it’s bigger than it appears and I’ve gotten a lot of compliments on it. It’s like everyone’s first overpriced apartment… beautiful at a glance, but after a week you realize everything is actually cheap and falling apart. ... show more

The cage is very cute but it stank really bad. It kinda smelled like something had lived in it already. My whole house now has this wierd smell. I saw bird poop on the plastic bits and it was all scratched up. The box it came in was practically falling apart. There was this odd plastic thing I can't get rid on on the plastic and the wood is really cheap a child could snap it in half. ... show more
