You need to select the right tarp for your application whether you are covering a canopy, carport, construction job, tent frame, outdoor event, yard project or wedding. [Construction]Poly Tarps are typically made of multiple layers with a woven mesh fabric sandwiched between two or more polyethylene sheets. [Reference Parameter]Tarp Thickness– This is the actual thickness of the tarp measured in mils (1/1000 of an inch). The larger the number, the thicker the tarp. Typical light weight tarps found in most retail or hardware stores are about 4~6 mils. If you are planning a heavy duty use, such as covering a carport, consider a heavy duty tarp at 10 to 12 mils. Reinforcement– Tarps have additional reinforcement around the perimeter of the tarp to help prevent ripping and tearing.Perimeter rope– This is a rope which has been sewn inside the hem at the edge of the tarp to add reinforcement strength to the tarp.Hem– The hem is formed by folding the edge of the tarp back onto the tarp and then stitching the entire hemmed area. This tarp is pretty solid. It's definitely THICKER than the cheaper ones I've used before and it seems like it will last a while (I always have trouble with tarps ripping or tearing after a few months). The green color looks nice too, not that it really matters for functionality but it's a pleasant change from the usual blue. It's easy to set up and take down because of the grommets along the edges. I used it to cover my firewood pile last winter and it kept everything dry. (It did snow quite a bit last year though, maybe record snowfall or something). I haven't had any issues with this tarp yet. It's done its job well so far and looks like it will continue to do so for a long time. Not realistically a heavy duty tarp. I knew that going in. 10 Mil is just too thin and too lightweight to be considered Heavy duty. Several of the grommets' are misplaced falling outside the periphery/salvage of the tarp and I expect that they may fail prematurely. The tarp is currently used to used to cover a rather massive pile of firewood. It is deployed on top of 2 older threadbare tarps and I expect that this will help it to remain watertight and last a couple 2-3 winter heating seasons therebye meeting my expectations. For the money I think it's a really good tarp. It's been windy this spring and it's held up pretty well except for some of the Grandma's did tear, however the wind did shake pretty hard at times so that would be definitely expected. And I will probably purchase more from this manufacture
