  • Great chainsaw
Size: 18" (2.0Ah)
This is probably the best chainsaw I have ever owned. I have owned several different brands but this one is the best and most powerful. Saw cuts like butter and the battery last for some time. I cut down 3 palm trees and still had enough charge to cut down another. Great price for the money.

  • VERY good saw
Size: 18" (2.0Ah)
I live in central IL where our winters can get pretty cold so I’ve always grown up cutting firewood for “cheap heat” With a timber full of red oak, hickory, hedge, elm I was very hesitant to try a battery powered saw assuming it wouldn’t hold up to these super dense hardwoods. This saw made my jaw drop. I broke it in on a hickory tree around 12” in diameter and it cut smooth as butter the entire time. It’s light weight, easy to handle and the battery life held up well in the 19*f temperatures Great saw! ... show more

  • Awesome Little Saw
Size: 18" (Tool Only)
Very well made saw. So easy to operate. Our large yard got severe storm damaged a couple weeks ago and this little saw is working great to help us clean it up. So convenient that it uses the same batteries as our green works leaf blower and weedeater. Just bought the pole saw too

  • Beast
Size: 18" (2.0Ah)
This chainsaw is a beast. I bought it after a large oak tree fell and have put it through the ringer. It very easily handles large logs and the bucking spike prevents kick back. It honestly feels like a similar level of power to many gas chainsaws and you almost forget it's electric except for how quiet it is and how much easier it is to start. I even bought a ripping chain for it and hooked it up to an Alaskan sawmill to plane some of the larger logs; while you need to recharge the battery every 2-3 boards, it handles this very well. It is a little heavier than some chainsaws, especially gas, which may be an issue for some, but I personally don't mind. The price tag for this makes it a very affordable option for anyone wanting an electric chainsaw with a lot of giddy up. I knocked it 1 star because the oil cap does not seal adequately, resulting in frequent oil spills when adjusting or changing the chain. It also could use a longer lasting battery, although it charges very quickly (20-30 min). Overall, I really like this chainsaw a lot and would definitely buy again. Pro: - excellent power, easily handled large logs - affordable price Con: - oil leak - battery life relatively short - somewhat heavy ... show more

  • Very capable. Cut down 20” diameter tree easily
Size: 18" (2.0Ah)
Very capable chainsaw. A huge improvement over the gas Stihl model that I had. The ability to just squeeze the trigger and cut without starting is under appreciated. Its torque/power is astounding. As others have noted, the chain will occasionally get loose and, if not tightened, will come off. But, it only got loose about 3 times for the whole tree. You just need to stay on top of that and tighten. The battery life is awesome when using the most powerful batteries from my blower. ... show more

  • Death of the small gas chainsaw?
Size: 18" (2.0Ah)
I've used nothing but Stihl, Husky and Echo saws for decades and finally decided it was time to try one of the new electrics. After suffering sticker shock upon seeing the prices of both Stihl and Husky electrics, I sort of gave up on the idea. That is, until I started reading all the positive reviews of this 80V Greenworks and figured I'd give it a try. I expected some sort of wimpy slow-cutting saw that would drain the battery after 10 or 15 minutes of cutting thin branches, but the power, cutting speed and battery life really impressed the heck out of me. I tested the Greenworks on a variety of hardwood limb sizes and found it to cut almost as fast as a 14" limbing chainsaw. I ran the saw about a half-hour and still had a full bar of charge (out of 3 bars) remaining. The next day I switched from the stock safety chain it came with to an OREGON 91VXL062G 62 Drive Link Long Top Plate 3/8-Inch Low Profile Chain, and the cutting speed was even faster This replacement Oregon chain is not a full safety chain (like the original that came with the saw) but there was no noticeable kickback using it. As long as I didn't nose dive into a thick stump - something you shouldn't do anyway with such non-safety chain - it just cut faster and didn't kick. I cut down, limbed and sectioned a dead 35' beechnut that had a base diameter of over 12". I did that on a single battery charge and still had some juice left over when I finished. The benefits of using a battery operated chainsaw are: ~No more pull-starts ~No plugs to replace ~No failure to start due to old gas, a fouled plug or flooding ~No loud noise (well, there's some but nothing like a fully revving gas saw) and neighbor complaints ~No more spilled gasoline ~No more mixing 50:1 ~No more paying for gasoline (I use high octane for saws and it ain't cheap) ~No more breathing in stinky and harmful exhaust fumes ~No more burns when changing out a chain ~Extra safety mechanisms including a traditional chain brake, an interlocking trigger, and the idle saw will shut itself off automatically after about 15-seconds. Additionally, an electric stops moving as soon as the trigger is released - unlike most gas chainsaws. ~Another safety feature; no more dieselling (the continuation of ignition even after the switch is off) due to incorrect carburetor adjustment, bad gas mix or hot spots on a plug. I actually have a 20-stitch scar on my leg from this happening to me with a saw I had turned off. ~No more carbon buildup on the head ~No more excessive vibration that really can tire out your hands and arms ~No more emptying and running out gas in the saw when storing for the season. ~A fraction of the cost of an equivalent Husky or Stihl electric - and with a better (2-year) warranty. I also think it cuts faster than those 2 saws. ~Automatic overload protection. The saw will turn itself off if you push it too much. I saw this in videos but when I used it in thick wood, the saw never overloaded. Just don't push it too much, which is good advice for a gas saw too. However, it just requires pressing the on switch to resume cutting. Of course nothing's perfect, so here's some downsides: ~The saw with it's battery installed isn't exactly a lightweight - but then again it cuts as fast as an equivalent midweight gas saw. ~The battery doesn't last very long in use, so you really need 2 or more of these expensive things with you (about $150 each). I figure to get about an hour of cutting with 2 batteries. The Greenworks quick-charger doesn't take long to recharge a battery, but you can't do that in the field. ~The safety electric shut off kicks in a bit too quickly - at around 15-seconds of idle time. That means you have to press the electric start switch to turn it on before resuming cutting. Just a slight PITA. I have already called Greenworks and asked them if it would be possible to increase this time to 30 or even 45-seconds on future models, so that you can swing the saw from limb to limb without having it turn off unexpectedly. I figure the trigger interlock switch and chain brake are enough for safety. ~It is an electric, and an 80V battery is nothing to disregard. So, don't use it to cut holes in a frozen lake the next time you go ice fishing. Water and electricity are just a bad combination. ~If you fill the bar oil tank up and park the saw, it will slowly bleed oil. The fix to this is to simply store the saw on its side with the bar oil port facing up. It's awkward, but it stops the oil from leaking. My expectation for this battery-electric saw is that it spells the demise of the small and medium chainsaw - for most uses and users. No, you can't use a battery saw on a giant redwood (at least not yet), and all day cutting is really not practical unless you have a nearby charging station. But. for arborist work and chainsawing around the home, this saw can't be beat. ... show more

  • Greenworks 80 volt 18" chainsaw
Size: 18" (2.0Ah)
The Greenworks 80 volt 18" chainsaw is a very nice saw. It runs great and was worth every penny I spent. If you are in the market to purchase a battery powered chainsaw, this saw is hard to beat. Performance is a 9 out of 10, power is 10 out of 10, battery life is 7 out of 10, charging is 9 out of 10, tough and rugged 8 out of 10, I love this saw. It has a nice and modern style but a little ugly to me, but runs great. so for it's appearance I give it a 6 out of 10. Only battery saw on the market that can out cut a gasoline powered chainsaw ... show more
