  • Very Impressed with Greenworks 80V Lawnmower!
I do have to say that I am very impressed with the operation of this Greenworks 80V 21" Self-propelled lawnmower. (Greenworks 80V 21" Brushless Cordless (Self-Propelled) Lawn Mower (Dual Ports + Light), Battery and Charger Not Included (75+ Compatible Tools)) Since this is my first battery operated lawn mower, I was unsure on how long the batteries would last. I really couldn't tell from past reviews as yard conditions vary and affect battery performance. I purchased a tool-only version so I had to get some batteries on my own. I opted for one 4.0Ah Greenworks battery and one 3.5Ah Generic battery. Those original Greenworks batteries are so, so dang expensive. 1. Greenworks PRO 80V 4.0Ah Lithium-Ion Battery ((Genuine Greenworks Battery / 75+ Compatible Tools) 2. TenHutt 【Upgrade】 80V 3.5Ah Replacement Battery for Greenworks PRO 80V Battery GBA80200 GBA80300 GBA80400 Lithium ion Battery High Capacity This first mowing session, I used the self-propelled feature, probably 85% of the time. The grass was longer than I normally cut at also, it was about 5.5" and the mower was set at the #7 position, which I understand to be 4". Photos 1-3 show my back yard and one side yard (half of the other side yard was also cut as well as the curb strips in front of the house), there is an incline from the front of the house down to the back yard. Photo 4 shows that the 3.5Ah (TenHutt) battery was depleted and the 4.0Ah battery (Greenworks) still full. Photos 5-7 show the front yard and other side yard (half cut from back yard). Photo 8 shows the 4.0Ah battery (Greenworks) with two bars still left on the battery. I was very pleased and was maybe expecting 1 bar to be left. The lawn mower operated flawlessly and I was also surprised by how quiet the motor was. I did have to get used to the self-propelled feature. As noted in other reviews, it does take a second to engage and disengage, with a rotation or two to unlock the drive wheels on disengaging. Engaging was no problem, on disengage you just have to release the drive handles about one mower width before you want to turn. At least that is what worked for me. Photo 9 shows the vertical storage position and also how clean the deck was. This was the first time I tried a silicone spray to keep grass from sticking to the deck and I think it worked well. Photo 10 shows the silicone spray used. Photos 11 and 12 show the Ah's of the batteries that were used for the mowing session. Small update. Still very impressed withbthe 80V mower. As picture states, 4th cut at height 6 I had three bars remaining on the Greenworks 4Ah battery, the 3.5Ah generic was depleted. Was mowing at height 6 because lawn was thick and it had rained heavy yesterday with more on the way. ... show more

  • Get ready to spend $1k in batteries to cut your lawn
I was very excited to receive my new electric mower. Unfortunately, I am very disappointed in the performance! Pros: lightweight even with two batteries installed, has a bit more torque than my 15 year old gas powered Honda. Ease of use and storage capabilities. Ability to adjust height with only one lever. Automatic switchover for batteries is a plus. Cons: 2x 4ah 80v batteries did not cut half of my 7500sqft yard. Severely lacks the ability to be pushed over taller grasses. You MUST use the self propelled feature in order to efficiently cut over taller grass. Battery life is horrible, I don't know how others claim they can cut their entire 1/4 acre yard, 5"tall grass, with only one battery. Maybe if it was 2" tall perfectly crispy dry grass and you're height setting is at maximum. A tiny bit of dew and you can kiss the battery life and performance goodbye! It doesn't mulch very well and clumps up pretty quickly after a couple of passes, I had 10+ times where the mower could not cut anymore grass and would simply choke out and stall. My Honda did this too, but far less and it's also 15 years old, not two days old and it's first use. Maneuvering was difficult when self propelled is engaged, you'll have to roll the mower forward in order to unlock the wheels to roll backwards and turn The blade is claimed to be laser sharpened, if so, why does it rip up my grass instead of cutting it? It may feel sharp, but believe me, it is far from sharp. Whatever greenworks claims in their description, cut those performance numbers by 75% and you'll have an accurate depiction of is true performance. Imagine it was the rainy season, the grass would need to be cut every 2 days in order to prevent choking and stalling from taller grass. Turbo button "sounds" like it adds a bit more power, the reality is that it only consumed more battery life and provides a nominal performance upgrade, it'll still choke out on taller grass. If you're into mowing your yard every other day, than this is the perfect mower for you. Otherwise, stick to the fossil fuel burning, carbon emitting, exhaust gas smelling mower we all know and love. I gave greenworks a solid chance to prove itself on my mediocre size lawn and their 80v power equipment was simply disappointing, at best. ... show more

  • Great power and long life
Size: 82V 25“ SP Mower
Great power and long life. One charged battery will last my entire yard. On extra long grass, one will not quite suffice and the mower will automatically switch over to the second one. With a third battery, one will power the mower while the other two charge. There is enough power to even mow wet grass. However, wet grass will clog up under the deck and cause the mower to abruptly stop. Lowering the handle will lift the deck front and the clog will fall down and have to be removed from the lawn before continuing. Wet mowing is not ideal, but is possible when not avoidable. ... show more

  • 25” 82 volt Mower self propelled problem temporary fix.
Size: 82V 25“ SP Mower
Used the 25” cut 82 volt mower around ten hours so far. The self propelled switch stopped being activated by the hand lever yesterday. The cable does not have enough tension to activate the drive. Otherwise the mower did the work as intended. A temporary quick fit was done on the self propelled cable and lever, now the switch is activated when the lever is pulled into the handle bar.. See photo. ... show more
