  • Very happy with this purchase
Very happy with this purchase. I went with this size motor in order to run with a 2000W generator. It works fine. Comparing to a Homelite/Remington in this class that my brother owns. The metal bucking teeth are nice compared to some with plastic. The square safety button on the handle is comfortable and easier to use and less pressure than the small round on some others. The guard seems sturdier and better attached. The tool less chain adjustment is priceless when you don't have a wrench around, and the chain does loosen as it ages. It is no louder or quieter than the competition. It cuts just as effectively as my Stihl MS170, but without the noise, and the weight. It is no louder than our circular saw, and I find no need to wear hearing protection. The drawbacks I noticed are the cord lock opening is only big enough for a 16 or maybe 14 gauge extension cord. And there is no kickback chain brake. To avoid the leaking oil issue, I store it vertically, handle down in a bucket. Conclusion is this is a great tool for home and in-close work where noise may be a factor. In no way would we get rid of our gas chainsaw. since it fills a need, But for 1/4 the price, it does 80% of the chores. Its definitely is going with us camping this year with the generator. As for the electrical draw, I tested using a Kill-o-Watt meter, and under no load. and a 50ft 16ga extension cord, I saw a start up draw of about 11 amps for a second, and then constant 6.3 amp draw running. Have not tested under load cutting wood. Update: Took on extended camping trip, We like constant campfires for the ambiance and keeping bugs away. Friends brought their gas chainsaws, and I brought this, and a 50ft electrical cord and Honda 2k gen. We went cutting on the hillside above the campground, and nobody in camp could hear the generator or chainsaw. Unlike a gas saw. We cut in camp also, and the CG host, 100yds away did not hear us either. All my buddies were impressed enough that they are looking to get one too. We bucked downed trees up to 24" dia. It cut just as well as a gas saw. Only downside, is the price of the saw is now higher. ... show more

  • Money Well Spent
Overall this is a chainsaw that I had expected. I have given it 5 Stars due to the price point along with the performance, which in my eyes is the overall value. If it had of cost more it may have received a 4 star rating. The saw is able to handle a substantial tree and I had no issues with getting through any of them. It is a light weight saw, which for the most part because it is electric (eliminates a pound or so by not using gas). Although it is light it feels durable and comfortable when holding it. As to other reviews talking about the oil leaking it does seem to slightly leak out if it is filled to the max however the leaking wasn't an issue for myself. The biggest con is that the chain did easily loosen and eventually fall off the bar depending on what I was cutting. This was obviously annoying at first however I started checking the tension knob every 5-10 mins and it did not happen again. On paper this sounds like a hassle however it really isn't. The knob is right on the side and takes one second to check. I have grown up using all sorts of chainsaws large and small and have always been a true believe that gas saws are the way to go. Although I do still feel that way for very large projects or areas when electric access is limited, to my surprise I was very very impressed with this saw. I used it to clear a range thickness between 2-6" diameter and as I said I had no trouble with them at all. I still have a few larger trees to take down however I saved them for last just in case the saw didn't make it however I am now very confident it will do just fine. For $50 this was money very well spent and was able to handle anything I would have used a gas saw for. ... show more

  • It's a beast! It's a beast!
This thing is a beast! It has plenty of power. I believe these reviews are overall greenworks products, this review is for the 82v 20" chainsaw. It cuts like butter, i cut various sizes of logs, 10 to 18 inches and no hesitation what so ever. I did have to readjust the chain a few times within about 25 cuts. Within that 25 cuts or so, battery life went down fairly quickly. Used about 53% of the battery in those cuts. Again was cutting 10 to 18 inch logs. Would give 5 stars, but the battery did overheat and went into protection mode. Otherwise i would have seen how many cuts it would have made in a single charge. I knit says 205 cuts a charge, and i see that very possible on 4x4 logs/boards as stated. So if i can get between 50 and 100 cuts on a single charge, cutting 10 to 20 inch logs, i consider it a win. ... show more

  • GREAT LITTLE SAW!
Great little saw!! I can't say enough about how great this saw performs. It has a 9 amp electric motor starts right away!!! I received it on time and I used it right away to cut some branches in our back yard. Most of them were 3' in diameter. The 14 inch bar made it cut very quickly and easily. It's lightweight, well-built, and easy to use. I just loved the wrap award handle, it made it much easier for cleaning debris. The saw was great it is powerful and very easy to use and perfect weight. I am a woman with no previous experience using a saw. And it worked great for me! Cut down a small tree, and a bunch of thick pencil trees like a pro. It does take some oil. I checked it n refill it 3 times which was not a problem at all. And after the tree massacre I was able to take it apart and clean it no problem put it back together. It did the job flawlessly. This saw comes with an Auto-Oiler which provides adequate lubrication Be sure to make sure to clean the saw when done and wipe off the lubricated oil. This saw is very easy to clean. I strongly recommend this chain saw. And the price is great too. Very pleased! I did receive this product for a discount for my honest review. • Greenworks 82V 20 inch 3.4KW Commercial Chainsaw is Top Drawer and a Keeper
This is the beast I have been waiting for to be equivalent in capability to any gas chainsaw I have owned. 20 inch, 82V 3.4KW with 4.0AH 82V batteries. This thing kicks butt, and it has the instantaneous torque. That is where you better be careful, it does have the torque and it can kickback if you are not careful. This thing will wear you out with it's capability before the batteries. Cut multiple cords of wood, anywhere from 4-8 inches all the way up to 20 inch plus splitter logs. Felled and bucked everything we threw at so far, on my property, and we are talking 80 percent hardwoods, Madrone. A bit heavy, but when you compare it to an equivalent gas chainsaw, that cannot even be used during extreme fire season, then the comparison on size and weight is nil. It's a keeper and a winner! Got two extra batteries with it and the 82V Commercial mower that was purchased simultaneously for a total 5 82V batteries, 4 4.0 AH and 1 2.5 AH. Mower is quiet and a champ also. Greenworks for me personally throughout the last two years has really raised the bar. Very happy customer! ... show more

  • Great saw, nice power, A+ support
Size: 16" Chainsaw (2.4 kW)
I got this on a deal, and I couldn't be happier. I am a sporadic user, sometimes going a year with no cutting, then have the need 3 or 4 times in a month. I find the battery unit to be the best for this type of use. The 82V has great power, and the 4Ah battery sounds small, but with the higher volts, it really lasts. OK, enough sunshine, I did run into an issue, the battery wouldn't charge if it wasn't used down to about 20%. I had left it at 70% for two weeks, then wanted to top it off for some work the next day. No luck, the charger acted like it was full. I contacted Greenworks support and sent a video of what was happening, along with the needed paperwork. Boom, Greenworks is sending a replacement battery. That is the service that will keep me buying Greenworks in the future. ... show more

  • Surprisingly Powerful!
To deal with the aftermath of the February 2023 ice storm in Texas, I needed to replace my old Remington 14" Limb and Trim 120v chainsaw. Lots of oak and cedar limbs and tree trunks to clear on my 1 acre lot :( The reviews on the Greenworks Model 2022 looked encouraging so I purchased one. The first one I ordered arrived with the box taped together haphazardly so it was apparent someone had received this one before me. I didn't even open the box since I assumed someone had decided to test drive it and then return it. (Love Amazon's return policy!) Ordered another which arrived in new condition a couple of days later. This one has done everything I've thrown at it over the past 3 days. I saw complaints about oil leaks but 1) haven't seen any evidence yet and 2) even if it did, that wouldn't be surprising for a self-lubricating saw. (I always store my saws on a plastic lid in case there are any leaks.) Also saw some concerns with the unit "throwing" its blade. I did have this happen a couple of times but by increasing the chain tension and (probably more importantly) staring to rev the chain before contacting the wood I haven't had any additional occurrences. What I like: 1. A really good (low) price for such a powerful chainsaw. 2. The chain-tightening mechanism is well-designed and quick. No disassembly required. 3. The chain oiling system works well. What I don't like: - Nothing so far Be aware that the Greenworks 14" chain (Model 2906802) found on Amazon does not fit this saw. It has the correct number of drive links (52) and link pitch (3/8"), but the gauge (0.043") is not what is required for this chainsaw which requires a 0.050" gauge. The Greenworks site shows that the Model 2904802 chain is required for this saw but that chain is not an option on Amazon. However, there are may replacement chains with the 52 drive links, 3/8" pitch, and 0.050" gauge available. I ordered one by UDC but have yet to give it a try since the original Greenworks chain is still cutting well. Bottom line: This saw has paid for itself in the 3 days I have used it. In fact, it probably paid for itself the first day! ... show more

  • Good saw with two drawbacks.
Size: 16" Chainsaw (2.4 kW)
It's a strong chainsaw that cuts any reasonable wood. I had a heavy freeze that brought down a lot of 4" to 6" oak, magnolia, and some smaller crepe myrtles. No problem with cutting. The bad part is that the chain tension has to be watched carefully, because the saw chain came off twice. I think this is because it was new. Keep the chain tensioned. Finally, I'm suspicious of the oiler. It may not be working properly, although, I am cutting in 24 degree weather. Oil might be thickened. Still, no gas mixing or gasoline period. Light, safer than my old chainsaw. Battery has pretty good capacity. This is not a 'professional' chainsaw, but I don't really need one. If I were away from a power source to recharge the battery, that would also be a problem. In the end, it is a strong saw but the chain and blade are not robust enough. ... show more
