  • Skeptical no more! I am mowed over by the power, ease of use and benefits of a battery mower
Size: 21" + Blower (2 x 2.0Ah)
I was really skeptical about whether a battery powered mower could do as good as job as a gasoline mower. I should never have worried. This Greenworks 80V mower does a fantastic job and I couldn't be happier with it. My video shows both the assembly and then the actualy first mowing of my overgrown yard. I actually enjoy mowing the lawn, but I've had someone doing mine for the last 15 years and I decided recently, that is was silly to spend that money when I could do it myself. The things I used to hate about mowing the lawn always seemed to have to do with all the hassles of gas powered mowers. We own 2 electric vehicles and one of the things I love most about them is the dramatic reduction in maintenance costs and far fewer things to break or go wrong, so I thought if a battery operated mower can actually do the job, then that would eliminate all the things like spark plugs, oil, filters, and pulling that damn cord 12 times to get a mower to start that I hated. Everything about this mower is better than everything about gar mowers. It's incredibly quiet compared to a gas mower. Adjusting the height is just one easy to move lever instead of pinching my fingers in all those wheel adjustments. No gas, no oil, no filters, no sparkplugs. It seems like Greenworks also made sure to make everything eaiser like adjusting the height, removing and replacing the bag, changing to mulch or side discharge, etc. Everything is so simple. It's amazing how complicated the old mowers were. Assembly: It was so much easier than I expected. The box is heavy, so make sure you have someone to help you carry it in if you can't lift heavy items. After that though, things were a breeze. There are only a few things to do to get it together and then you are immediately ready to mow. The only hassle I had was attaching the upper arm/handle to the lower arms. At first it looked like the cord was too short, but after I attached it, it moved into position and I could put the screws in. That is really all there is to the actual assembly. Everything else is attaching the bag, mulch, or side-discharge parts depending on how you want to use it. Mowing: Not much to say here. You start the engine by pushing a button on the halde and lifting the engage bar on the handle. It starts instantly. No heaving on a rip cord to get it started and no priming the pump. Just push, pull, and go. Despite having our yard be overgrown, it didn't slow, hesitate or get stuck on any of the high grass. It just plowed right through. If you are skeptical about battery operated mowers, all I can tell you is that after years of mowing lawns when I was younger and not mowing lawns for the last 15 years cause gas mowers are annoying, I couldn't be happier to be saving money on a lawn guy and doing it myself. ... show more

  • Works better than anticipated
Size: 21" Self-Propelled + Blower (4.0Ah)
Bought 6/05/2024. My 1st electric yard equipment, so was a little skeptical. Early review, received it, charged the battery, mowed the yard and blew off the driveway and road. Set up was about as simple as you can get. Mower: Good - - Battery - 80V / 4AM battery lasted a long time. I was able to mow my whole yard (have a decent size corner lot in a subdivision. Takes about 30 to 40 minutes. Only used 1/2 the battery. Used the blower for the driveway, porch, and all around the L corner of the road. Still had one light left. - Weight - Very light. Almost don't need the self propelled. - Handling - Good, but takes a little getting use to. It is rear wheel drive and you have to let off the self propel bar 1 to 1.5 seconds before you come to a stop, or plan to pull it backwards. The controls for the self propel bar is below the handle, and the bar to keep it running is along the top. This was the opposite form my prior mower, so I kept shutting the mower off on accident. But I'm sure it will be like 2nd nature soon enough. An added benefit that I have not seen in any post yet is that you can use the self propel without having the mower blades running. I found this useful as I have to traverse a few areas between grassy areas. I was able to use the self propel without worrying about the blades hitting anything or kicking anything up. Very handy. - Storage and Cleaning - The fold up feature is great for storing, and makes it easy to blow it off after use. - Height Adjustment is as easy as it gets. One lever and lots of options. - Noise - Much quieter than gas motor. Can talk over easily. Do not need noise canceling headphones. Could use ear pods and still hear music without making them too loud. BAD: They should have made the battery shield open wider. It only opens a little and you have to duck down to plug it in and out. Not a big deal. The 1 bars on the handle are a little thin. They should have made them a little more ergonomic, wider and/or flatter. Not a big deal. The self propel is a little touchy. The adjustment level is a fine line between going too fast to control well, to a decent steady pace. Just took a minute to get right. Not a big deal either. Blower Good - It blows well. Has decent power. The controls are good. Bad - The 80V battery makes it a little heavy for what it is. It should come with a shoulder strap, or option for one. Would rather hold the weight on my shoulder and just use my hand to aim. The 2 nose pieces do not snap in place securely. They fall of easily while using. Maybe I did it wrong. Going to look into this further. Conclusion: Mower - Would buy again. Highly recommend Blower - Decent, but would not recommend, or buy again. ... show more

  • Worked fine. Light weight
Size: 21" Self-Propelled + Blower (4.0Ah)
Minnesota, November 24, 2023-First use review- Temp, 27degrees F. Dry leaves and lawn. Product- Combo 21" Greenworks 80 volt self propelled mower, one 4AH battery, charger and 580CFM blower. MOWER- No tools are needed, but you do have to attach the handles. The set-up was fairly easy with the exception of the cable to the mower handle being tight which made it difficult to attach the upper portion of the handle to the lower portion. Although I recently mulched the leaves on my yard, more leaves had fallen. Mower was surprisingly much lighter than my gas self-propelled gas mower. I found it easy to maneuver. I have about 6000' of lawn. The fully charged battery did the lawn and showed one green light out of 4 when finished. It did a fair (not great), job mulching leaves. Your personal walking speed, lawn type, how dry, and grass length will dictate how much lawn is done before the battery runs out. It does not pull/vacuum leaves from the side into the mower like a gas mower. This might cause you to make several more lawn passes than with a gas mower. I could hear the motor rev-up automatically when it hit a heavy area which is nice feature. I only engaged the self propel several times going up hill. This feature worked well. Note-It takes a couple of seconds for the self propel feature to kick in. Unlike the Amazon description, there are NO LED lights on this mower. The box says the battery will last 40 minutes. I believe this is without using the self propel feature. My guess is this is the most basic 80V self-propel unit Greenworks makes. But, it did the job. BLOWER- After mowing I used the blower with the battery showing one green light. It did a nice job blowing pine needles, dust and remnants of mulched leaves from my circular driveway. Even with the heavy 80v battery it was easy to handle and control the speed. BOTH- Lightweight, Speed control is a nice feature on each. ... show more

  • Easy to use. Battery charges quickly. Only 1 battery included
Size: 25" Self-Propelled (4.0Ah)
Just a heads up if you live solo and have this delivered, the box weighs over 100 pounds. I had to flip it end over end to get it inside the area where I assembled it. The instructions for assembly and use are okay, not spectacular but I've seen a lot worse. It took me about 20 minutes to assemble it. One important thing to note is this mower only comes with ONE battery even though it holds two. I was worried that it wouldn't work with just one battery installed but it does. The instructions for how to start the mower are clear, but fail to mention how to engage the blades. You need to pull back on the green bars on the inside of the handle to engage the blades. Even on the slowest (turtle) setting, this mower runs fast. I was able to mow both my front and back yards (just over half an acre) on one battery charge. There seemed to be roughly 20% battery life left when I was done. The battery seems to charge quickly which is nice. This machine makes mowing the lawn easy. It seems to cut the grass evenly. ... show more

  • Awful! Do not buy!!
Size: 25" Self-Propelled (4.0Ah)
This mower is advertised to cover 3/4 of an acre on a single charge, but in reality, you're lucky to get even 1/9 of an acre; that’s less than 15% of what’s promised! It constantly stalls on grass due to insufficient power, and the lack of a side-discharge option only makes things worse. While it does include a self-propel feature, using it drains the battery even faster, further limiting performance. You can buy a second battery for $220 or more, but even then, you won’t reach 1/4 of an acre; that is less than 30% of what’s advertised. Unless you have a very small yard, this mower simply isn’t worth it. ... show more

  • I bought a electric lawn mower, and I LOVE it
Size: 21" + Blower (2 x 2.0Ah)
1st electric lawn mower. Not sure how it work because I live in the wood. It turned out great. Easy starting, less noise, and easy to push.

  • The little engine that could
Size: 21" Self-Propelled + Blower (4.0Ah)
Let me tell you. Not having to pull a start cord. Or deal with the vibration. Or the constant loud noise. Completely worth it. Not having to keep a can of gas? Nice. The battery is barely enough for my yard. And I mean barely.(I DONT USE the self propel feature. Which does work nicely) I will be buying a second battery. I don't even care about the leaf blower (which btw is EXCELLENT). This mower is definitely worth the price. Seems high quality for sure. Would take the grass down to dirt on its lowest setting lol. The size is almost perfect. An inch wider would be useful and save me one pass. It turns easy since the back wheels are large. And the light weight makes storage nice. As far as I can tell you. Definitely worth the purchase. But get a second battery ... show more

  • Powerful, Awesome cut and Lasting Battery
Size: 25" Self-Propelled (4.0Ah)
I recently acquired an incredible mower and after my first use, I can confidently say it’s outstanding! Gone are the days of dealing with pull starters, gasoline, and that typical lawnmower smell. The battery performance is impressive, easily powering through both the front and back yards with the self-propelled feature throughout the entire mowing process. It’s also much more manageable than my old mower. At 6’4”, I find the upright handle perfectly positioned for comfort, and the ability to fold the handle for upright storage is a game changer. I utilized the dual blade mulch feature, and it worked fantastically. I highly recommend this mower! ... show more
