This pole saw is very powerful and with it’s 8 inch blade cuts very well. I would recommend paying a slightly higher amount so that the pole saw you purchase is capable of cutting well. That’s what really counts. The combo units might seem more attractive but you can use this unit for cutting into small lengths near the ground after you bring down the branches. ... show more

As noted in star ratings, I found that this Greenworks pole pruning tool is well designed. Even I, with spatial intelligence being my lowest ability, was able to set it up and use it without difficulty. The unit arrived with chain already installed on the bar, amazingly with correct tension set. The chain oil feed works very well, and actually does ensure that if one is working for a while, the chain does not dry out: the motor just stops for you. Very good. Refill the oil; check that the discharge port is clear; go back to work. Excellent. When I cleaned the unit before storing it for next use, I found that more sawdust had accumulated inside the chain bar cover than I liked. Nothing's perfect in this world, and the big knob that allows one to adjust tension as needed during a job without totally disassembling the bar & chain setup more than makes up for it. For everyone who is not at the 99th percentile for arm and shoulder strength, remember that a 10 lb. weight at the end of an 8' pole, held more or less horizontally, is a lot more difficult to work with than a 10 lb. held close to the body or sort of balanced on top of a nearly vertically held pole. Removing branches from tall hedgerow hollies: easy job. However, once your main branches are on the ground, you're still going to need those loppers, unless you're one of the top 1% of upper body muscle strength. This this review is for the Greenworks 6.5 Amp 8 inch Corded Electric Pole Saw. This trimmer saw is a cutting machine!!! Balance good, cutting speed and power good, seems very durable. This saw will get a lot of work done, and I will highly recommend this trimmer. Here is the "but" and why I only gave it four stars. I found that when I first started using the saw, it was not applying bar oil to the bar. As another reviewer noted, the feed hose from the oil reservoir to the pump was installed incorrectly and is pinched. Easy fix, split the case and re-clock the short 90 degree hose to the correct position, reassemble and use. You will also need 3 small wire ties. As a new tool, I should not have had to dissemble and repair before using, but once done it's a cutter! ... show more

Great tool for helping clear after a hurricane. Easy to assemble, and operate. Albeit is a bit heavy after extended use. I would highly recommend.
