  • Fun to be had on this yellow bike
Color: Yellow Size: 17"
I bought this bike for my girlfriend and she Loves It. It shifts easily with the thumb shifters, and the shifters have indicators that let her know what gear she's in. The mechanical disc brakes are a little noisy but work fine, and seem to be better than cantilever or caliper brakes on wet conditions. The bike arrived mostly assembled and in good shape, and assembly was pretty easy and straightforward. The gears shifted alright out-of-the-box but needed to be tuned first, and the brakes were already adjusted and ready to go. We needed to adjust the spring shock since she is small, and the ride was a little bit rough for her light weight before the adjustment was made. The fork shocks don't seem to be adjustable, but they work fine as-is. Trail riding is fun on this bike, the shocks really soak up the bumps on rough terrain, and the rear shock keeps the back tire on the ground when going up a hill with loose gravel on it. Plenty of gears keep a rider up with the rest of the pack, as well as offer plenty of power when going over hills and rough terrain. The lightweight aluminum frame makes it easy to take it on and off the bike rack, and is light enough for my girlfriend to control and sling it around on complex rides. It's just an overall fun bike to ride. ... show more

  • Very smooth and quiet
Color: Yellow Size: 19"
Well, it’s been a week since I got the bike, so I decided to write my review now. The bike came in half assembled so it didn’t take me too long to put it all together, I only had to do some minor adjustments and add air to the tires, with that I was out of the house giving it the first try, went around the block and was quite pleased with the handling and overall feel of the bike. Since then I added a handlebar riser to make it easier on my back, changed the factory seat for a comfort one and installed a bike computer that I had on my previous bike, that’s about all I have done to get it where I wanted it. I have put about 40 miles on it since then and I am very impressed with how quiet and smooth this bike is, my previous bike was a Genesis Max air 29”, which was pretty good for a Wal-Mart bike but didn’t have rear suspension and it was taking a toll on my back and butt. The Gravity certainly earns its name when it comes to lessen gravity’s effects, the rear suspension does it job. Same goes for the dual disc brakes, very effective. I have gotten a few stares while street riding, I am not sure if it is the cool bright yellow looks of the bike or the fat guy riding it, but I am happy either way. I have read some folks complaining about the tires not being big enough for dirt but so far, I have not had any issues with them, half of my riding is done on rough terrain and they have performed well so far. As far as cons I only have one, the position of the water bottle holes, I installed a holder and used it once, the amount of mud I got on the bottle made it not very appealing to drink from, however, looking at the frame of the bike I can’t think of any other place they could have to put it so I guess it’s fine. Again, overall, I am very happy with the bike and I hope it stays as it is for a long time. ... show more

  • Review changed ... chain broke. 21" Frame great for a 6'-6" 285 pound man.
Below you see my original 5 star review. Unfortunately, the chain broke on my third ride. I am not sure about recommending this bike for a large man. It's just the chain, I should have had the derailer professionally adjusted maybe. I'll still give it 4 stars. I ordered this bike with apprehension, being a bit larger than the average bear. I'm 6'-6", so I thought I would take a chance. The parts are top quality for a bike this price(under $400), and the front/rear disk brakes AND front/rear suspension are unheard of at under $400, at least everywhere I looked. I got the box, and took the bike out of the box. I only had to attach the handlebars to the frame, attach the front wheel, and the pedals. I discovered I also had to attach a front brake line. Then I put the seat on and tightened it up. Easy enough to do everything with a 5mm hex wrench. Everything looked great! Then I got on the bike and took off. Pretty much a disaster. I'm glad I survived. I hadn't really ridden a mountain bike for several years, and forgot there's a little bit more work needed to do after the bike is "assembled". First thing, this bike is plenty big for me, and I realized I had the bike seat about 5 inches higher than I should have. That made things scary. I'm just used to having to put the seat high. Second thing, with my large frame I thought I was going to have to replace the front forks. Way too soft. I went and got myself a pliers first and tightened them up as tight as they would possibly go. It turns out they are perfect now!! No need for replacements. Third, air in the tires seems to be a necessary thing. I filled them from 3 psi up to 55 psi. They are working great. Fourth, the front disk brake caliper needed to be moved a bit to let the wheel spin freely, and both front and rear brakes needed to be tightened up a bunch! After these adjustments the bike works great for my 6'-6" body. No bike shop or replacements needed. I love this bike. Feel free to contact me for some help with any of the above mentioned adjustments. Maybe I could send you a pic or a video of how to do them. I would love to help if I can. davidjimm at netzero dot com ... show more

Color: Yellow Size: 21"
I live on a the small island of San Pedro Belize. I could not be more pleased with this bike and have been a road cyclist in my younger days with bikes coaster over the 3k price range. I have rigged it up with fishing pole holder, fenders( all dirt/ mud roads) and some other small mods. I’ve putover 3,000 miles on it since April. For the price point this bike is FANTASTIC! Easy assembly and I have yet to have an issue. Durable, awesome look and I can beat the golf carts on the island. Kudos to GRAVITY BIKES ... show more

  • The bike looks amazing
I really like the bicycle and although I know that it is not one of those that are expensive that are used professionally, to give a ride or do some crazy cross-country meets the objective very well. I have had problems adjusting the gears of the central part where the pedals are located, because the screws that regulate the limits of the chain are placed in a position where it is very difficult to perform this task. Possibly with some special tool you can do this easily, but with conventional tools it is quite complicated. I also can't find a bike mount in my vehicle. The frame of the bike is different from the others that maintain a conventional structure, this is because my bike has double suspension on both tires making it impossible to place it on the holders you find in the market for a sedan. I know, this would be different if I had an SUV or a truck, because in that case it is very easy to find other vehicle holder options for carrying the bike. For the rest and until now, I am very happy with my bike. ... show more

  • This bike is an awesome deal!
Color: Yellow Size: 21"
This bike is absolutely amazing, especially given the price. I used it as a base for a 1kw electric bike and it's perfect for the application. I had a solid frame with no suspension before, and riding over rough streets at 25-30 MPH was rough. After moving the parts to the new frame, it's impressively smooth. So far, I've had no problems with any of the components on the bike. The brakes are decent enough, even for repeated hauls down from 30 but I plan to replace them with hydraulics at some point soon. The only negative thing I can say is that the paint has chipped off in a few places, but it isn't noticeable. All in all this bike is excellent and the seller was quick and informative. I'd recommend this bike to anyone looking for an inexpensive, fully-suspended, disc brake equipped frame. ... show more

  • Great value for the price!
This bike is exactly as advertised. Some really good components on a decent frame for a great price. I am a middle age man, with moderate, chronic physical conditions working on getting back in shape. Mountain biking was something I used to enjoy so I wanted an entry level bike to see how it works for me before investing serious money. Assembly really was not too bad with a little patience and some previous knowledge. Gears were perfectly adjusted and I did some minor tweaking to the brakes. I immediately replaced the seat. It was terribly hard. I bought one from Bikeroo and was extremely pleased. I will be purchasing new tires before very long. The included tires are fine, but I want more traction and durability. The forks, shocks, brakes, gears, and frame all seem fantastic for this price! I have put about 75 miles on the bike at this point. I recommend this if you are a beginner to get a feel for the sport prior to investing serious money or if you are a casual mountain biker. ... show more

  • could have been great.... but
Color: White Size: 17"
This bike was purchased for my teenage son. Having had it now for a week, and with us both having ridden it several times, my rating would be somewhere between 3 and 4 stars, but I just cannot get to a 4. Here are my initial thoughts, broken into the good and the bad: good: - frame and component quality (including shocks) good for price. I'd say to do better than this, you'd likely need to shell out at least a couple hundred dollars more; - it's a really good looking bike; - assembly was quick and easy - required only attaching seat, handlebars and pedals, and putting the wheels on (15 mins); - quick delivery (5 or 6 days), and packing was good; - seller quickly addressed a defect I discovered when assembling bike (warped rear brake caliper). My email was immediately acknowledged, and a replacement caliper received 3 days later. bad: - disc brake stopping power is disappointingly weak (esp rear brake). I know everyone thinks disc brakes are cool, and I know first-hand that higher quality disc brakes are superior to rim brakes, but I'd much prefer the rim brakes if this is the stopping power you have to live with at this component level. May simply need adjustment or repair, but I do not know how to work on complicated disc brakes, so I'll need to pay to take to shop. - shifter/derailer clearly not calibrated (esp gear set at crank). Gear shifts are not dialed in, and many upshifts do not catch. Again, I do not know how to work on these complex components, so again, I'll have to pay a shop. - if bike weight is a big issue for you (it's really not for us), this bike is by no means light. - the owners guide / assembly instructions were a joke. Please, for love of god, include a readable step by step assembly and trouble-shooting guide (for this particular bike!) which might include at least some mention of brake and derailer adjustments, as well as how to connect the brake cable to brake lever mechanism. These pre-assembled bikes really need to work perfectly right out of the box. No customer should immediately be saddled with a $100 bike shop bill to make calibrations/repairs to brand new components. There needs to be better quality control, and perhaps someone who actually tests the brakes and gears before shipping. Such a check would have also revealed my bent caliper, as I highly doubt such a strong piece of metal was bent in shipping. So my recommendation is this: if you know how to work on shifter/derailer/disc brake components, you’ll likely be able to get this bike in good riding condition and will be very happy with the good deal you’ve gotten. Otherwise, if your experience is like mine, you’re going to have to spend some money/time right off the bat just to get this bike in the condition you'd expect a brand new $400 bike to be in when received. ... show more
