I got my toddler a lofted bunk bed a little sooner than I should have. He loves it (sleeps on the bottom) and climbs to the top for fun (it looks like a clubhouse), but I didn’t feel safe leaving him in there alone at night. I wasn’t sure this would work. The safety door on my pool ladder broke. Having two toddlers that are pool crazy I needed a solution. This was just the ticket. It was easy to use and now I feel safer when I am working outside. I don’t have to chase after them.

We got this to put around the ladder of our above ground pool as a safety feature for our young grandchildren. It works great. You can’t go up a ladder. It does seem to me that just removing the ladder and placing it away from the pool would work, too. But if it makes mom and dad feel worry-free, it’s worth it. ... show more

    • Bunk bed ladder cover
I use it for a bunk bed ladder to keep my toddler from climbing up to the top bunk! The Velcro has a strong hold and while the chain is an added bonus, we don’t use it- the Velcro does the job! Pricey, but there isn’t much of a market for bunk bed ladder covers!

The Child Guardian or Grandma's Child Saver is two pieces of thin plastic covered styrofoam with velcro to attach it to the ladder and a thin chain. It also comes with a very tiny "diary lock" with two keys to secure the chain. I can see how this would be ideal if you want to prevent kids from climbing a pool ladder, but if the intention is to prevent a toddler from climbing a big kid bunk/loft bed, then it might not be the best option. The issue is how the ladder is secured, which is via the long thin chain and the diary lock. The velcro is only to hang it on the ladder. If the kids are in a shared room and you need the ladder guard placed on at night to prevent a toddler from climbing the bed during the night, then it would be fine if only that the kid in the top bunk has no way to easily get in and out of their bed due to the chain & lock being on it. I needed a guard that would allow my big kids to get in and out of the top bunk easily, while still preventing my toddler from climbing it, and so this product will not work for my needs. I also can't get over it costing almost $50 considering the quality of the product. ... show more

    • Don't waste your money
This product is not worth the money. My toddler at the first attempt of trying it, was able to undo the velcro straps at the top, slide it to the side with the chain on and climb the ladder. Yes, we tested it! The product is plastic cork board, velcro straps with a chain and tiny lock. I would not recommend this to keep your child safe in the event they we're left attended for any reason. ... show more

We have a fearless toodler that wouldn't care to Just jump into the pool. Thankfully with this he is unable to climb the ladder when we aren't swinging. Literally life saving!
