I did a ton of research. I read all the blogs, scoured Consumer Reports, talked to other parents, and I’ve also used quite a few other car seats between my own kids and others. This is the best car seat I’ve ever used. My criteria: Excellent safety ratings Extended rear facing to 50lbs and/or 49” (my son is 42” tall and the headrest is still not in the top position). Easy installation: it took me exactly 2 minutes to install while my 14 month old and 4 year old were running around. I used the seat belt install as my son is almost 40lbs and it was SO SIMPLE. I spent almost an hour the week before trying to install the Chicco NextFit Zip Max with the seat belt and couldn’t get it as tight as I did with this one. Easy-pull straps- these slide like buttah! My mom takes the kids and we needed a seat that she could use too. It’s also super-comfortable (says my son). This was meant for the baby, but my son has claimed it for now. The *only* complaint I have at this time is that the crotch strap is short. It’s not a big deal as I can loosen the straps, but it’s not ideal and would’ve been an easy fix. I absolutely love this car seat. As a CPST I’m very particular about finding seats that suit best practice, extended rear facing, are easy to install for the grandparents, are easy to take apart and clean, and a seat that is safe for my babies. The seat it self isn’t the largest seat I’ve seen but it’s not the most compact either. I have two of them both rear facing in my van (Chrysler Pacifica) on the driver side and my husband has more room to scoot his seat back than he did with the infant carrier. I love the snug lock it makes the seat extremity easy to install and take out when switching vehicles. The snug fit makes the seat easy to adjust as my kids get taller and the extended rear facing gives my oldest plenty of extra room for his feet. Bought this carseat and got it today. So far looks great, have yet to test it out. Did notice that as others said, I was sold a car seat that was manufactured 2 years ago. It is frustrating considering it's only good for 10 years and I paid full price for it. If you're going to sell old stock at least give an option to buy new or make it obvious it's old stock and offset the price relevant to how old it is. ... show more

    • Does not rotate. Changing from car to car is a pain. Does not detach from base for carry out options
Great car seat saftey wise, comfortability from what I can see (I can't fit in it). Down side price wise it should be able to rotate in my opinion for easier access for putting child in and taking out. Instructions are good and it's awsome that it grows with the kid. I can honestly say i am in love with the entire Graco Primer Midtown collection! I have the infant carrier, the modes 2 grow stroller, extra seat for the stroller, and i just purchased my second convertible car seat for my granddaughter thats only 3 months. Her dister has the first one @ 2.5 years old. I originally picked hers up when she was only 9 months old. I am so thankful for the Graco Primer set. The look, style, feel, features, comfort, and safety all made each piece well worth while! Very easy installation and so easy to adjust as they grow! ... show more

    • Fancy car seat, but hard to use!
Car seat is great looking and seems to be very safe, but very hard to use. The buckle for the three-point harness is too short. It is next to impossible to attach the shoulder straps to the buckle between my grandson’s legs. The buckle wide at that point and digs into his legs leaving red marks. He only about 30 months old not sure how it will work as he gets older. This was at the top of the line for car seats, but seems to not be worth the extra cost. Another issue is with it is the cup holders will not stay in place. Probably would buy a different model due to these problems ... show more

    • Sturdy and comfortable for my granddaughter
This carseat is not for the weak body. It is super heavy, making it very durable. It was easy to install, and easy to get the baby in and out. My granddaughter thinks it's super comfy too, as she falls asleep every time she's in it!
