Sure, my phone has mapping software, but I can tell you half the time it takes me off on weird routes through neighborhoods no one wants to be in (or through empty cornfields), only to end up looking at a sign that says 'Your mapping software is hallucinating, this is not a street' or worse. I finally decided to try a different method, and go back to the old style GPS unit. This reminds me very strongly of the units I used back in the early 2000s, but it's got way more features, and it's way more useful! I also found it much easier to program complex road trip instructions into this than into my phone's mapping software - I don't know if the phone's using more AI or what, but on a long road trip a couple of weeks ago, this unit was far more reliable!

When I got the GPS, all seemed good. I tried to turn up the volume, and the volume doesn't work. I want to listen to the directions, because being a truck driver, your eyes have to be on the road, not the GPS.

If you're just looking for a basic GPS, maybe your phone's too small, maybe you don't like smartphones, this may be an option for you. You get the GPS unit, you get a suction cup mount system, the cigarette lighter power cord, and a short charging cable. Yes, it has a battery. The battery lasted me about two and a half hours, I was hoping it would last longer. So if you do not want to run a cord, you can just charge it up at home, stick it in the car and go. I don't like the screen, it's definitely not HD, it looks worse than those $100 tablets from China. If you get direct sunlight on it, you're not seeing anything. It does have a built-in FM tuner, but you'd have to run an aux cable to get the sound out. It will accept an SD card, my guess is for music, because it does have a music player. And this is only a 5 volt unit, you can't just cut the cigarette lighter end off and wire it in, that's too much voltage for the device. If you wanted the hardwire it in you would have to get a dash cam hard wire kit. And the adapter cord is just over 5 ft long. It does have a little bit of a lag to it, I have an older car so I don't have an infotainment system. But I have used one in a 2022 Ford F-150, and they seem to work really similar as far as lag and function. The lag isn't terrible, but you do notice it, especially if you're punching in an address. Everything comes in metric when you get it, you will have to go through the menus to get everything in imperial. In one of the menus there's a setting for regional, that's where you'll be able to change it from kilometers to miles.

I like using 2 GPS systems simultaneously, especially if I'm going somewhere totally new, it's good to have a second opinion. Google Maps is good but not always, and smartphones don't always get reception so a purely GPS-based navi is essential. Car makers are increasingly skipping offering GPS navi and even when they do, the maps are crappier than before, so a dedicated device like this comes in very handy. The biggest limitation starts becoming the mounting location, as I'm not a big fan of mounting to the glass and this is even illegal in some states. Garmin makes great software but they have gotten very expensive. Overall this is good for anyone who doesn't already have a car-based navi built-in, or bringing one along for travel.

It will get you to your destination. Large screen. But, the main screen is not helpful in finding settings. Menu is too complicated. Seller failed to answer any message. I returned it.

This is a large size display that is terrific for easy viewing. The graphics are clear and precise and the operation of this unit comes first in metric, resetting to imperial units though is fast and easy in just a few clicks. An unusual feature is a verbal warning of excessive speed should you exceed the speed limit, but I was unable to spot the means to display the speed limit on the unit face. Overall, it is a good performing unit and for the price, a very good value. Read the manual for a number of useful features including a backup camera (professional installation suggested) if desired. The unit is durable and should last for long time.

It does have state and county road speed limit, but NOT on township level road. So if your primary concern is getting speeding ticket this is NOT for you.

We have an older truck with no navigation system. I usually use my phone for GPS when we make a delivery and have been wanting a regular GPS for it. I am thrilled with the large screen, the visible speed limit for the road we are on as well as the free map updates. It seems pretty straight forward and serves the purpose for us. We will never use it for games/music/etc., it is our navigation system for our truck that does not have one. Would I buy it again, most certainly.
