This tarp really delivered on value, much more than I was expecting for the price. I typically backpack with a small lightweight tarp or we use our travel trailer. I was recently doing a canoe trip with rain in the forecast and wanted something to go over the picnic table where we could all shelter. I looked at "big blue" tarps but have not found those to be durable. When I saw a 14.7' x 12' silpoly tarp with a 5,000mm hydrostatic head and including four stakes and guylines, I went for it. Long story short, this tarp performed beautifully. It is very compact and lightweight when packed, so took up little room in our canoe. I additionally purchased some telescoping tarp poles to use in case there were not convenient trees around the table along with stakes and line for them, which was useful at our particular campsite. We were only hit with about 30 minutes of hard rain, but the tarp did great and kept us dry. The side pulls in the middle of the panels are really useful for getting more interior room with the tarp deployed, I just rain a line to some nearby trees. I'll say the stuff sack could be a few more cc's in volume as it is really difficult to get the tarp back in along with the stakes and lines. That's usually the case with camping gear, but especially so with this tarp. I may make my own stuff sack for it. In any case, I'll probably be taking it trailer/car camping instead of my popup canopy just for the weight and space savings. I have not had it in a very windy situation yet, but I think how it performs will primarily come down to how well it is pitched. LOVE how well this is made! Strong tabs with holes instead of grommets. Tons of them so tons of options for hanging. Rained on our camping trip. Not a drop underneath. Totally dry to the touch! Very light weight, yet durable. Nice and large with reinforced loops. Held up well during a pretty bad storm! I only wish it came with poles for times when there aren’t enough trees to attach to! Also surprisingly it kept the tent cool because it blocked the sun!

The quality is pretty much on par with what you pay for in this tarp. It’s a good tarp but not high quality. For example; the size of the tarp that I purchased was the 8x10. It is not to the listed size. It is shorter than 10 foot but is still large enough to keep you dry. It’s almost 8 feet wide but just short of the true width. Again, still large enough to keep you dry so I’m not going to moan about the size difference. The tie outs are really good for the outer edge of the tarp since they are double stitched and backed up with another piece of material. See pictures. They should hold up nicely. But the tie outs on the seams throughout the center of the tarp are not reinforced and are kind of sketchy because they’re not stitched to hold up compared to the outer edge. So I’m expecting them to give out first. Not sure how I might repair them if they fail. The seams on the underside are taped and so should be sealed to prevent seam leaks but again, if the tie outs give out, there’s nothing to prevent a water leak and or tearing of the fabric. Maybe some duck tape would help to keep on hand if it happens. Overall, it’s not a bad tarp for the price, just beware. On a side note, the tarp could do well without the silkscreen logo and just a simple tag would work fine. So all in all, good tarp for the cost, just minor discrepancies. Now I need to test it out. Wonderful tarp. Surprisingly light, sheds rain really well, and packs into a super-small bundle. Also sheds dirt once it's dry amazingly well. Worth every penny.

This tarp is an excellent product. There are many tie out points (7 per side) with reinforced bar tack stitching. The plastic ties are perfect for the top of your tarp poles and for the includes guy lines, which are highly visible to avoid tripping at night! I like the rip stop fabric with waterproof coating underneath and the contrasting tape stitched along the sides. The seams are all tape sealed, and the storage bag is large enough to fit the tarp after use. There is a separate bag for the 4 stakes and 6 guy lines. Overall, I am very pleased with this tarp to provide shelter over the back of my truck, and the extra tie points give me lots of positioning options. My best tarp yet! Thanks ... show more
