  • Better than my Alienware Aurora R12
Size: 32GB DDR5+2TB R9 8945HS Style: K11
I owned two computers, one I built for home and work years ago, and a Alienware Aurora R12 for gaming that I purchased in December 2021. My home computer was not able to be upgraded from Windows 10 to 11, and with me now in my late 60's I am no longer able to see well enough to build another. I therefore needed one that I could hook up and use right out of the box. As I started looking I found these Mini PC's that I had never heard of, was unsure how well they would work, and most from brands I did not know. With the price and features I decided to give this one a try. To start with, the Alienware Aurora R12 I got from Dell was over $1200. I was, am happy with my purchase of it. This is the set up I ordered with: 1TB M.2 PCIe NVMe SSD (Boot) + 1TB 7200RPM SATA 6Gb/s (Storage); 32GB, 2x16GB, DDR4, 3200MHz, XMP. This Mini Computer I ordered (for $650) has 2TB SSD along with 32GB DDR5 RAM 5600MHz (Dual Channel 2x16GB). I ordered a WD BLACK 4TB SN850X NVMe Internal Gaming Solid State Drive with Heatsink (for $290) to install as a second storage drive. So I got all this for $940. For a $300 savings you can see how on paper I got a much improved computer. With all the connectivity and features was this as good as it seemed, after 4 months of use I would give this a resounding YES. So here is what I found: was able to easily install the extra WD SSD; hooked it up and ran perfectly from the start; found it to be the quietest computer I've ever owned even with the performance turn fully up in the bios and running games such as Dune the Awakening (even with both of it's fans you hear virtually nothing in my computer room), the WiFi and Bluetooth both work perfectly, and I found out quickly that it far out performs my gaming computer. I could go on about all the features it has, but you can read those yourself. The only thing to note was in the installation of the WD SSD. When I slotted it in perfectly although it was just slightly raised up across from the connection (probably due to the heatsink), but when you closed the top fan back down it had no effect on the SSD or the fan and has worked with no problems. ... show more

  • Big performance for a small package
Size: 32GB DDR5+2TB R9 8945HS Style: K11
Why did you pick this product vs others?: I bought this computer with the intention of replacing a small form factor I5 from that was about 11 years old. I was not having any issues witht he old one, but wanted to use some of the newer features in the OS that the I5 would not support. fisrt of all the even though there is a fan cooling the device, it is QUIET. there are enough USB ports to allow me to use my external powered hub and not worry about the cabling. the lighting behind the fan is a great touch. When I initially bout it, I was hopinbg to add a second M.2 drive to it, but I bought the wrong size drive. fortunatly. I put it in my hub, and it works great. It far exceeds my expectations for any computer. I dont for see my needing a replacment for years ... show more

  • Solid Purchase
Size: AMD Ryzen 5 6600H 16GB+512GB Style: M6
AMD Ryzen 5 6600H 6 core 12 thread 16gb + 512. Packaged very good, came with mounting bracket, power supply and HDMI cable. I removed the supplied 512 NVME and installed a 256 NVME and installed Linux Mint Cinnamon 22.1 and ZERO issues, Linux system found all the drivers along with wireless with ease. For all of you that adore the Windows 11 OS, be sure to not connect to the wireless or RJ45 during setup, you may have slowdown issues until the OS is fully installed. I have the GMKTEC connected to a 4K TV and mounted on the wall for easy access. 4K video, web surfing, Libre Office, JPG's, MP3's, MP4's all work effortlessly. There are ZERO performance concerns with this Mini PC. . Some might ask if it will play streaming channels and the answer is: If you can get to the service you want to watch in your normal web browser then you can play it. Probably the best choice for Home Theatre on the market. It's a Solid Purchase. ... show more

  • This MINI PC... Games (and a whole lot more)!
Size: 32GB DDR5+2TB R9 8945HS Style: K11
The media could not be loaded. This is my 3rd Mini PC from GMKTec, and I've been very impressed with all of them. This latest model has an AMD Ryzen 9 8945HS with integrated Radeon 780M graphics and is being marketed as a mini gaming PC, so I thought I'd put it to the test. I installed Fortnite through the Epic Games Launcher and asked my son to demo. I attached some pictures and a video, but he was surprised at how well it ran the game on high settings. My monitor tops out at 2K resolution (2560x1440 pixels / QHD 1440p), and while not 4K, he was still playing with good quality and frame rate without having to drop to 1080p (which is fine too). The fan does get a little noisy during heavy loading (i.e., gaming), but it isn't too bad. I recalled my first GMKTec mini PC has the ability to run in a lower power mode with slower fan speeds through BIOS adjustments, so I looked through the BIOS on this PC but didn't find what I was looking for. I'll need to dig a little deeper here. This PC has Windows 11 Pro 64-bit, so Pro is an unexpected upgrade, although with the networking capabilities this PC has, it probably is a necessity. It has 32.0GB RAM and a 2.0TB SSD. There are traditional USB A slots on the back for keyboard and mouse, but it also has numerous USB C 4.0 ports on the front and back, one of which is directly next to the power plug. I need to look into this because I may be able to use my 140W USB-C wall charger to power this PC through its USB-C 4.0 port instead of using the larger laptop-style charger brick and cable that it came with. I attached some benchmark results, including one from CPU-Z showing this PC's processor is slightly faster in single and multi-thread testing compared to an Intel Core i9-11900K. This PC is fast, and the little LED multi-colored fan is a nice touch. The top clear lid comes off easily if you turn it counter-clockwise about 45° - putting it back on is easy too by doing the inverse. Out of the 3 GMKtec PCs I've purchased, I had an issue requiring support only once with the first PC. Their support team responded within 12 hours and quickly resolved my issue. If you're looking for something small to free up desk space but powerful enough to do anything business-related while being able to game too, then this PC is a great choice for you. I purchased their next model down, the GMKTec NucBox K8 Plus, to run in our conference room at work, and it handles large assemblies in SolidWorks (3D CAD software) very smoothly. I know you'd be surprised at the performance at any size, but in something this small, it is remarkable. Laptop components in a mini PC form factor for the win! I'll never buy a huge tower again. ... show more
