I've become a coffee snob--roasting my own beans for my particular recipe for cold-brew. I mostly got this on a whim, thinking I could gift it if it didn't work for me. On the contrary, I love the simplicity and quick brewing of a really rich cup of coffee. I wasn't an espresso drinker before getting this machine, but I'm sold. I prepare a double espresso as I'm making my lunch for the day, and then enjoy a cup as I get ready. It heats in less than a minute and brews in a minute or so. It's also easy to clean. The milk frother works fine (I suppose. I'm certainly not an expert), and it quickly frothed the milk (about a minute or so). I prefer my coffee without milk, so I've only used this once. I'm very pleased with this purchase, and the machine has gained a space on the (limited) kitchen counter.

I had only used espresso machines in office buildings. They were big, expensive machines. I never thought I could have the same experience at home. This espresso machine is small but brews excellent coffee with pressure. The milk frother is fantastic and easy to keep clean. That's the big thing when you're dealing with milk - keep it clean! I'm no barista, but I'm pulling fantastic-tasting shots in just about the same amount of time I would spend brewing a cup of drip coffee. The machine looks and feels high quality. The thing I always look at to determine the quality of a coffee machine is the water tank. This machine's tank is thick and durable, and the hinge on it is sturdy. I can't vouch for the longevity of the internals, but if you buy coffee at coffee shops regularly, it's not a huge math lift to see how quickly this machine would pay for itself at this price. I have no doubt it'll be brewing well beyond the break-even point, simply because of how short of a time that would be. Coffee for me isn't just a morning beverage. It's also a hobby. This machine is right at that price range where it's not a crazy investment in the hobby. It's fun to be able to play around with trying to make each cup taste better by making slight adjustments to the grind or the way you tamp the grounds. Speaking of tampers, this machine comes with a plastic one, which does the job. However, I'd recommend eventually picking up a better one that tamps a little more evenly. This is a fantastic espresso machine for home. It's well-built, it doesn't take up much space, and it's easy to use. If you are on the fence and you really love coffee, I'd say go for it.

Our new Gevi Espresso Machine works well once you learn all the ins-&-outs. While the resulting drinks are good, the machine requires quite a bit of effort to setup and clean after each use (compared to our regular coffee) so it’s not something we are using often. I found the instructions are sometimes grammatically difficult to read but the tips that are highlighted throughout are very useful. The machine vibrated a lot the first few uses, so we have to be careful that no mugs fall off. The portafilter (handle) is very tight to fit in place, I basically have to hug the machine to hold it still as I twist it. Note - it will not fit if you have too many grounds. When I weighed out exactly the “right” amount, it was a little too much. I am still perfecting the art of getting the milk to foam enough, the instructions for that part of the machine are not as specific. Sometimes when the steam button says it is ready, it does not actually come out as steam at first, so be sure to have something under it to catch the spray of water. All in all, as we gain more comfort with the machine, we are liking it more and more.
