It can be used as a clip-on fan or as a table-top fan. To use as a table-top fan, simply loosen the butterfly screw on the fan head, then attach the base to the fan head ad tighten the butterfly screw. To use as a clip-on fan, loosen the butterfly screw on the fan head, then attach the clip to the fan head ad tighten the butterfly screw. The clip can accommodate a 1.06 inch to 1.65 inch thick structure. The fan has two quiet energy efficient speeds. The fan head can be adjusted to all angles making it so much more convenient to use. This fan has been ETL listed and employs overload safety protection with a fuse in the built-in power plug.

I purchased this fan to circulate above my tomato seeds under the grow light. It worked perfectly. It is a great size for any small size but worked exceptionally well for my project keeping the air cool and moving during the germination of my seeds. It is a solid black color, nice oscillation and circulation. The clip was handy as I attached it to my table top where the seeds were. Noise is actually pretty quiet. A pleasant humming sound, nothing obtrusive or squeaky. After the seeds were transferred to the exterior garden, the kids moved the fan to their upstairs desk area. Double duty. After reading the reviews I was not sure about this purchase - it's love them or hate them pretty much. But that is about what I found for every six inch fan listed that is close to this price point so I picked this one to gamble on and it works real well for my purpose. I use it in a 5x8 grow tent to move the air around a bit. I have two right now but ideally a third or even fourth would be best - and I am running my fans on the low speed. Too much air movement is not a plus. The goal is to simulate a breeze not blow massive amounts of air. And it should not be 24/7 either. I have them on a timer to run a a few cycles per hour and not at all when the lights are out at night. If you need to move a lot of air, it's best to do that with a high quality exhaust fan versus blowing it directly on your plants. Not good. That said, it is very decent well made fan. Easy to assemble and the clip works well. Now I have a custom wood frame enclosure I designed myself so it clamps to the 2x4 and 1x4 wood with no problems. If you are a grower who decided to buy an overpriced tent made from tubing, it's likely this would not stay put and move or slide out of position after some time. But if you have a means of keeping it secure and just want to move some air as I suggested, you will not be disappointed. I can definitely recommend it for how I described using it and will be buying more. IMO it would work equally fine as a personal cooling fan to use on your desk at work or home office. It is very quiet and moves a good amount of air to help cool ones self a tad. And no, this is not a fake review as one unsatisfied customer suggested. It sounds like they may have just gotten a bad fan or the quality of the fans is hit and miss - that does happen with stuff made "elsewhere".     • For the purpose of cooling off from a hot flash my wife finds this fan very adequate.

The reason I bought this fan was for my wife she's now going through menopause and having hot flashes. I find this fan very convenient because while we are watching television in the living room it can be placed on our table under a lamp because of the small footprint it takes. The fan only has two speeds to it but for us and our needs we find that to be satisfying for the purpose. We are using the base of it right now but we may use the clip on in the future which makes this unit very versatile. The base is made out of plastic and a little lightweight in the construction but for the price you can't go wrong. The electrical cord being a little over 72-in it easier to find an outlet that it will reach. Like I said we have it in our living room and after a short time while watching television the noise of it just seems to fade away. The media could not be loaded. I did a lot of research and I decided to settle on this one based on previous reviews. I love this fan, no regrets!! The clip is extremely strong, the wind output is great for the size fan it is, it turns in all angles; 360' and it's not loud. The fan was larger than expected but that falls on me because I should have pulled out my tape measure to verify, but it resulted in being the perfect fan to clip on my bed headboard. I have had this fan for about a month now, so I feel like it has been long enough to write a review for it. First off it comes with a stand or a clip. I am using the clip, which fits perfectly on my bookshelf. It has two settings, low and high. The room I am using it for it my bed room so I can either turn it towards my desk or my bed. It blows out enough air for my to be comfortable(My room gets very warm). I cannot tell you about the noise as I don't notice it(I am hard of hearing, and do not wear hearing aids when I am home). Even after forgetting to turn it off for whatever reason, it still runs(Moto may feel warm after having it running non stop for a few days). It's nice to have and great for the price. If you are like me and didn't want to pay $30 for a fan and don't need it for a huge space, this works perfectly. ... show more

This is the mini clip fan you want. Do not get the comfort zone one! I made that mistake recently thinking i could possibly upgrade from this Genesis fan.. this fan did it's job for me for like 3 years before it started falling apart. The comfort zone one is terrible, makes wonky sounds even on the low setting.. this Genesis fan is quiet, powerful, and durable enough to last at least a few years. If you want a clip fan for your headboard, this is absolutely the one to get ... show more
