I have gone through 3 toasters in the last 3 years. Average price of $75 and they all failed. This toaster feels solid has basic controls and toasts the bread to a repeatable darkness and is even on both sides of the bread. This does a better job at being a toaster than the expensive versions. If it seems like this is a long review for a toaster it's because I have been disappointed in my last purchases and I was ready to vent about the lack of simple competent products.

My old toaster was retired so I decided to get a new affordable one. This looks more expensive than it it and does a good job doing what it’s supposed to do, toasting. No complaints here. It has multiple heat settings which actually work and it is easy to clean, just empty the bottom tray. The surface picks up finger prints if that’s something that is important to you. Nothing that can’t be removed with a paper towel though.

Ok, it's just a toaster. But I have been amazed at previous models that are more expensive and just could not do a decent job! My last model cost about 2X the price and toasted one side more than the other, then would eject the piece onto the counter. Good Grief. I have taken 1 star away for the overall design. The power cord comes out the side which is odd. The clean out tray is in the back, again a little odd. Neither a big deal and perhaps was in the description and I did not notice? For my application, having the cord in the back and cleanout in the front would have been my preference.

In terms of functionality the toaster does work well for both bread, bagels and waffles and the temp control is basic but functional. It would have been nice if lifting up on the level would have raised higher to make it easier to get out the toasted item but its just enough to keep from getting burned. Now lets get onto the fit and finish, its not that great but should be expected given the price point. The product weights very little (lifts up easily when you push up on the lever) and the stainless steel going around the outside is as thin as you can get. The buttons, knobs and other parts not directly in contact with heat are plastic but a really cheap feeling plastic. i have bought GE toasters exactly like this and normally get around 2 years out of them before something breaks so I expect this to last about as long but given the price thats a decent amount of time but of course your millage will vary depending on how you use it. Looking at it sitting on the counter from standing height it looks good, its only when you get close do you start to see the cheapness but again for the price its not a big deal. Overall this is a good product if your on a budget and it does the minimum its needs to for it to be a good toaster.
